PSAT - THIS WEDNESDAY!
· All sophomores and all registered juniors will take the PSAT.
· Students need to arrive as close to 8:00 AM as possible to check in at their testing room.
· The test has the following sections: Reading, Writing & Language, Math (No Calculator), Math (Calculator).
· Sophomores should have received a PSAT Student Guide from their English teacher. Registered Juniors received a PSAT Student Guide when they paid for their test.

We began with 33 students auditioning for places in the All Region, All District and 9/10 Grade District Honor Choir. 18 earned a spot in a District or Region Ensemble and 8 are moving on to the 3rd round of All State. So proud of these kids!

Scholarship Information
Seniors: Be sure to check out the new scholarship website – E-Scholarships USA. Go to www.collegeguidanceconsultants.com User name: weatherford, Password: weatherford
Sophomores and Juniors: The Project Opportunity Scholarship is available for WHS students with financial need who are planning to attend Weatherford College. The scholarship provides up to $5,000 for tuition, books, and supplies for two years and is made available by the Project Opportunity Foundation. Students must be sophomores or junior to apply and the deadline for juniors to turn in their application is December 1, 2016. Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
Available Scholarships
Sons of the Republic of Texas Scholarship Program. This scholarship awards grants of $4,000, $3,000, and $2,000 to graduating seniors with the best essay on “Stephen F. Austin, The Father of Texas”. The purpose of the essay contest is to encourage students to explore the pioneer spirit of Texas. The entry deadline is January 31, 2017. Go towww.srttexas.org for more information on how to submit your essay. Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship: Students who plan to enroll in an accredited Engineering program in Texas are eligible to apply for the Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship. Students must graduate with a 3.0 or higher GPA, score at least 620 in math, 580 in reading and writing on the SAT, or have a 29 in math and 25 in English on the ACT. Applicants will need to include two letters of recommendation and an official transcript with their completed application. Scholarship awards are based on academic record, achievement, leadership, and career goals. The application deadline is January 13, 2017 and applications are available in the Counseling Center.
Entrepreneur Scholarship: If you have an established business and an entrepreneurial spirit, you may be eligible for scholarships ranging from $2,000 - $15,000. Scholarships are based on ACT/SAT scores, class rank, and GPA. Additional information is available at www.NFIB.com/YEA. Applications are accepted between October 1, 2016 and December 18, 2016.
Anne Ford Scholarship: The National Center for Learning Disabilities will award a $10,000 scholarship to a student who has a documented Learning Disability and is planning to obtain a Bachelor’s degree. Students need to have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, demonstrate financial need, and show that they have participated in school and community activities. The deadline to apply is November 13, 2016 and applications are available online at www.ncld.org/scholarships.
