SCHOOLS TO WATCH VISIT ON TUESDAY

Colleagues,

As you know, we recently applied for the Schools To Watch Re-Designation. This is a prestigious award that confirms the hard work you all put in each and every day.

The Schools To Watch directors will be visiting us on Tuesday, October 13th (Time: TBD). The visitation will last 90-120 minutes and consist of 1-2 people. They will visit several classrooms and may choose to speak with students or teachers. This is a low-key visit to verify our sustained efforts towards becoming a high performing school. Please continue your daily routines as you always do.

The results from the survey and/or the narrative have been sent via email. If you have any questions please let me know.

Thank you for all the hard work you do each and every day.

EYE GLASSES FOR STUDENTS

One sight is a FREE VISION program that supplies free glasses to students with or without insurance. If you have any students that need or think that they need glasses please email me their names so I can screen them and refer them to this program.

This program is taking place on Wednesday, November 4th. Students need to get the packet from me, get it signed by their parent, and return it to me to get registered. This is a great opportunity for students that don’t have insurance, or that have lost/ broken their glasses. Please help me in referring the most students to this FREE program. Thank you.

Equity - Listening Campaign with Dr. Joe Fulcher

Friday, Oct. 16th, 8am-3pm

Seminar Room at Granger

Dr. Joe Fulcher, our new Asst. Superintendent of Equity, Culture, and Student Services will be visiting our school on October 16, 2105. He is conducting a district-wide “Equity Listening Campaign” that is designed to engage all stakeholders in a discovery process through a series of semi-structured group interviews. At the conclusion of the 1 month listening campaign, Dr. Fulcher is expecting to have a greater understanding of district-wide equity opportunities and challenges as well as an assessment of the district’s current capacity to meet those challenges. These interviews are voluntary and for those interested, please visit Dr. Fulcher during your prep period; he will be in Seminar Room.

COLLEGE AWARENESS WEDNESDAY

Start a tradition.

If your child goes to college, your grandchildren will be more likely to go too: 71 percent of students with at least one parent who has a bachelor’s degree apply to college themselves. Only 26 percent of first-generation students (those with no parent who went beyond high school) apply to college.
