Chandler's Parent Connection

March 2023

Principal's Corner

Spring is in the air, and great things are blooming here at Chandler!

Our instructional team is busy planning for programs, reviews, and innovative presentations. Teachers and students are teaming together to produce representations of learning. PE/Flex classes are teaming together to complete activities and enjoy team building. The coaches have worked hard to tie in classroom standards as support for classroom teachers. Students are enjoying this interaction, and we are seeing gains for all students involved.

Students enjoyed dressing up for Dr. Suess's birthday week during Read Across America. Students also had opportunities to participate in activities for Texas Public School Week. Teachers had Texas Day activities for the students to play creative games linked to Texas traditions. Students also focused on Black History Month by creating and presenting art and informational visuals at our Live Museum presentations. The artwork produced by students was phenomenal!

Our Math Game night was a big success. Everyone seemed to enjoy the games the teachers created. Thank you for coming and participating+ with your child(ren) and Chandler Staff.

Now that the weather is more welcoming outside, students are beginning to take part in classroom activities in the outdoor learning center. We are looking forward to getting our outdoor garden growing again.

AR Celebrations are going well. We had 180 students receive the last reward. Mrs. Amanda Latham is busy scheduling the last reward party. The students that made all the celebrations will receive an extra reward.

End of Year Benchmarks and STAAR testing are coming up soon. Please encourage your child(ren to do their best work.

We want to thank you for your support as we partner up for the success of all children!

Good Behavior Means Fun Activities!!!!!

We just wanted to remind our parents that all students are expected to meet the expectations for the Student Code of Conduct, Bulldog Essentials, and the Chandler Way!!! Students that continue to receive level changes and office referrals can find themselves losing field day events, water day activities, and PTA Fun Day activities. Bus behavior is included in the consequences and reward systems. If a student reaches 7 level changes or has an office referral then that student loses an event for field day. This means any student receiving 21 level changes or 3 office referrals out of the 30 school days would not be allowed to participate in the field day activities. Water day activities are earned through a classroom system that will be passed out soon to the classroom teachers. It is the same system that we have used in the past. While we don't want to take anyone's full event, in some cases of constant disrespect for the rules or aggressive behavior then a whole event can be taken from students. Prior to this type of discipline would be a phone call from Dr. Lindley or Mr. Collins. Please remind your students that their behavior earns the fun activities that are planned for the last weeks of school. Thank you.
