This Friday, the Fly Like an Eagle (FLAE), CCA's positive character committee, will be hosting their FLAE Day after a long absence! We are excited to bring this day back: a day that provides numerous opportunities to build teamwork across the grade levels. Each class is matched with another class and together they rotate through four team building stations. The goal is to build camaraderie amongst these teams with the hope these relationships ("Buddies") continue throughout the school year.

Everyone had so much fun on Friday night at the CCA Carnival. It was wonderful weather and we were joined by so many families in our community! A huge thank you to the PTO for putting it together and for everyone who volunteered, took part in the silent auction, and came to have a great time with their family! We truly are a wonderful community and wouldn't be without any one of you.

As a part of our Veteran's Day Assembly, scheduled for November 11, 2022 at 8 am, we would like to honor the brave people in our community who have served or are currently serving in the military. To include a member of the military to be honored during our assembly please share their name and the branch of the military they served in or are currently serving in, an optional picture, and bio or information about their time serving in the link below. Thank you for your participation. This year we will invite those Veteran's, as well as families of students and members of our community to our school to join us for our in person assembly.

Our new GT teacher, Carol Redmond, will be offering a drop-in enrichment program for all students at CCA before school. She will be downstairs in the Innovation Space each day from 7:20 to 7:55 and available to guide students who would like to choose an independent project or activity that explores their personal interests or passions.

Available resources include:

STEM activity supplies and prompts (including recycled materials for constructions)

Brain teaser puzzles such as KenKen

Creative writing or research guidance

iPad apps: Sketches Pro, Stop Motion Studio

Dash and Dot robots using Blockly for coding

Ms. Redmond looks forward to learning and creating together before school!

Steel City Codes, is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit designed to increase CS exposure for younger students through cost-free opportunities. This school year, we’re organizing a chapter at Castlewood Library where students will learn the fundamentals of Computer Science.
The chapter will meet from 2-3 pm weekly on Sunday, and we’ll be teaching the students Java.
