Tiger Tales
Newsletter #35 - May 15, 2023
We hope you enjoyed the warm weather this weekend, celebrating the mothers in your family and those who took on the role of "mothering".
To continue along these lines, we would like to express our gratitude for PTSA (especially Michelle Guo and Hongkai Chen) and all of you for the flowers, notes, bubble tea, and delicious lunch last week. You made Staff Appreciation Week such a uplifting and heart-warming experience - we are very lucky to partner with you to raise these amazing kids!
In addition, a big thank you goes to the parent team (Maria Barrios, Hongkai Chen, Eunice Kim, and Noreli Dominguez Acosta), Dr. Aramaki, and the district MHAT Team of counselors for putting together an informative and thought-provoking Family University Night last Thursday. If you weren't able to come or would like access to the resources that were shared, please click here.
We have another packed week coming up, with the Volunteer Appreciation event on Wednesday and PTA Talent Show on Friday! Hope to see many of you there!
Warmly,
Kati & Betty
Jewish American Heritage Month
In addition to Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Month, May is also Jewish American Heritage Month. We recognize and celebrate the many contributions of Jewish Americans in shaping American culture, history, and government. For many Jewish Americans, the month of May is time to be in community and reflect with one another. At a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise, Jewish American Heritage Month provides a great opportunity to work with students and teach about the important history of Jewish Americans. Here are some resources to learn more:
Kids Heart Challenge Completed!
Thank you to families who registered and/or donated toward Finn's challenge. While we did not have a fundraising goal, through your generosity, we met the minimum level to receive PE equipment and a small portion of funds back to the school. Thank you! In addition, about 112 students registered which means that all students will have the opportunity to vote this week on Spirit Week ideas! Way to go Medina Tigers!
Don't Forget! Stop by to enjoy Volunteer Appreciation on May 17th!
If you have volunteered at school in any way, in the classroom, on a field trip, or for the PTA, we invite you to stop by the library between 12:30-1pm to pick up some treats provided by Medina staff. If your child is not doing chess club, you can drop them off in the cafeteria during this time. Our GSAs will be in the cafeteria supervising and providing options such as a movie or board games to play. Please stop by and mingle with staff and other volunteers as we celebrate YOU!
Community Notice: Annual Budget

Policy 6000 Budget Preparationrequires notice and conduct of a budget hearing before approval. A proposed budget must be available to the public by July 10. The annual budget must be adopted by August 31. Legal notifications for certificated staff must be completed by May 15.
