Happy Birthday!

Today is Mrs. Delgado's birthday! Mrs. Delgado, we wish you a Happy Birthday...and We Love You!

Harvest Festival and Raffle tickets!

The Harvest Festival is next week, and that means it's time for raffle tickets! The prizes are amazing as usual! Two books of tickets have been sent home for each family to purchase...or sell and return. Please return the filled out stubs, along with the money, and place in the raffle ticket folder provided in your child's classroom. If you would like any extra tickets, let your 8th grader or your teacher know. Please make sure to return any unsold tickets to the same folder. Have a Spooktacular day, and see you at the festival!

Prep for Conferences

Thank you! We have received many conference forms already! If you have not had a chance, please make sure your teacher has it by this Wednesday, October 18th. If you have misplaced the form, be sure to ask your child's teacher for another! As always, let us know if you have any questions!

Second Grade Coffee - Now October 25, 8:15am - 9:15am

Parents of second graders are invited to a morning coffee and information session with Laura Kennedy and your three second grade teachers in the Hayden Performing Arts Center. You will learn more about second grade, hear from some of your child's other teachers, including Susan Reedy who teaches "Mindfulness" to second grade. If you have a topic or area you wish for us to cover at the coffee, please let us know ahead of time.

Dunk'n the Vote!

MJS All American Donut Election

As we all know, November 8th marks our next American presidential election. We will celebrate this important milestone by having our own election. On Friday, all students registered to vote in families. Eventually, MJS students will vote to decide what is "The All American Donut.” We are using this analogy to teach the election process through school families and morning prayer. The students will see the good Ol’ American democracy in action as we vote on election day!

Homework for This Week

Monday - Spelling and Fluency (2 Pages)

Tuesday - Math Practice Page

Wednesday - Read for 20 minutes; Say a prayer tonight

(dinner, bedtime, thank-you...)

Faith Matters

Here is a prayer for our families. Together we face good times and difficult times. If we love and forgive one another, and pray together, we will be blessed.

A Prayer for Family

Heavenly Father, Please shine your light upon my family.

Give us strength to overcome all of the difficulties that

we are dealing with now and protect us against any

and all problems we may encounter in the future.

O Lord, please bring us together as we are meant to be.

May the love that binds us only grow stronger as

we fulfill the destiny you have laid out for us.

Grant my family forgiveness

for any sins we have committed.

May we also forgive one another Lord,

as it is sometimes difficult to do.

Bless us Lord, In your name I pray, Amen

2nd Grade Halloween Play

We hope your children are practicing the Halloween play songs at home with the music link. They continue to practice at school as well. The play is on the morning of the Harvest Festival, at 11am in the Hayden Performing Arts Center, on October 28th. The second graders will wear their Halloween costumes to school that day, and will wear their same costumes in the play.

Read Across America

We are getting off to a good start! We are heading to Yosemite National Park. Ask your child if he or she has handed in at least one sheet toward our mileage to make their contribution to the class "trip." All students have Read Across America mileage sheets available to take home at any time in the classrooms. Happy reading and safe travels along the way!
