Message From the Principal

Dear Families,

To begin, I want to thank our community for your support of the school levy. Although it won't be officially certified until later in November, the yes votes are over 51% and growing daily. The District will be able to make critical improvements to our facilities, making them even better places to learn. Additionally, these funds will enable the School Board to protect your investments for the long haul. Thank you voters!

We've had lots of students and staff members suffering from a variety of winter colds and flu over the last two weeks. What they're sharing on the evening news is true. Please make sure your kids are getting plenty of rest, hydrating well, coughing into their elbow and washing their hands regularly!

School will be dismissed at 11:45 on Wednesday the 23rd so that families and staff members can begin their Thanksgiving travel and traditions. Please note that lunch will NOT be served that day!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Lake Tapps Families,

The holidays can be a challenging time for families who are experiencing financial struggles. Each year, the Dieringer School District counselors work with Dieringer families in need, to help make the holidays brighter. If you are interested in signing up to receive Holiday Help for your children, please fill out this form no later than Monday December 5, 2022. All personal information is kept confidential and will only be seen by the school counselors. Please list ALL children (under the age of 18) in the household. This year, we are holding a gift card drive for parents to shop for their own children.

If you need a paper form, please contact your school counselor.

Thank You Voters!

As of today the November Capital Levy is passing, and I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our community for their support. As we have shared before, this levy was crucial for the long-term sustainability of Dieringer's school buildings and critical infrastructure systems. We’re excited about the prospect of ensuring quality learning spaces for our students for years to come. This is an investment in our schools and our community as a whole. Pierce County Elections will certify the election on November 29th, and there will be one more set of election results released on Monday the 21st. Thank you again for supporting Dieringer’s students!

What’s happening in the library?

We are continuing to equip students with the skills they need to find books independently in the library!

First graders are now able to check out nonfiction books. They have been learning about call numbers, how books are organized in the library, and how to use library signs to find books they want.

This week, our second and third graders learned to search for books in our library catalog.

To access our catalog at home, please have students go to http://destiny.dieringer.wednet.edu

and click on Lake Tapps Elementary School.

Encourage your student to write down the title and call number of the books they would like to check out, and they will be ready to find those books on their library day.

Thank you for supporting our Lake Tapps readers!
