LHISD Updates

Community Edition

Panther Community

After a very busy week, it is nice to know that Friday night lights are back! For most of us, we will have to watch online (info below), but hearing the band, feeling the buzz of the crowd, and watching Panther Stadium come to life will be a welcome sight. We are still far from normal and will miss many of the traditions that make Friday night special in Liberty Hill but this is another step in the right direction.

In-Person Numbers Increasing. As you know next week marks the end of the first grading period and families had to choose to stay in person, return to school, or stay remote. As more students return to school, the ability to social distance goes down. We will continue the use of masks to mitigate the spread of the virus. The number of COVID cases in Wilco is down, but we still see cases in our school families and still need to be very careful.

The results of the school choice selections are below:

  • LHE will increase from 73% to 83%
  • BBES will increase from 64% to 75%
  • RSES will increase from 63% to 76%
  • SRES will increase from 65% to 75%
  • LHIS will increase from 65% to 74%
  • LHJH will increase from 65% to 73%
  • LHHS will increase from 68% to 74%

Have a great weekend,

Community Engagement

Thursday morning, Superintendent Snell had his first Coffee and Chat with the community at the HUB in Santa Rita subdivision. He presented the new enrollment numbers and an overview of the fast growth coming to our district. Lots of great questions from parents and conversations that will help Mr. Snell and the School Board as they continually review processes that will benefit all our stakeholders. Great meeting new people and seeing familiar faces to Liberty Hill. We look forward to talking with more parents and community members at the next Coffee and Chat. #LHISDCoffee&Chat

REMIND- District Communication Platform for COVID-19 Notifications

Beginning on September 21st, the Health Services department will be sending COVID-19 notifications to parents using Remind versus Skyward; the Health Service team will also follow up with a phone call. Remind is one of the channels teachers and staff currently use for classroom or extra-curricular communication. The district is moving to this platform as it’s functionality will provide a faster and easier notification process for our Health Service team and parents during this challenging time. All campuses will be participating in this initiative. Parents will not need to enroll or activate an account as it is synced with Skyward and will automatically send you the messages.

LHISD has launched two new resources on the Return to Learn website to help staff, families, and the community stay informed of the COVID presumptive or positive cases in our district. An after-hours process for our parents has also been implemented to notify the Health Services Department of presumptive or positive COVID cases after hours. These resources are located on the district Return to Learn webpage at this link.
