AUGUST NEWSLETTER
Cholla High School SY23-24
Message from Mr. Miranda - Principal
Hello Students, Parents and Guardians,
We are off to a great start at Cholla High School! Enrollment is strong with nearly 1,840 students and Fall sports teams are full and ready to compete! We had a chance to meet with each grade level last week to go over changes to the Code of Conduct and to set a positive tone for the school year. The staff is dedicated to raising the rigor in the classroom to better prepare students for life after high school. A big focus for students is “RESPONSIBILITY” when at school. Cholla High School belongs to every student and staff member. It is our responsibility to keep the campus clean, to support our peers when they are in need and to report when they see something that should not be happening. Together we can maintain a safe learning environment for everyone on campus.
Go Chargers!

Counseling Department Updates
Hello Chargers & welcome to the start of a brand-new school year! We are excited to join with you as we embark on this academic journey together. As your partners in your child's education, the Cholla Counseling Office is here to support and guide your students toward success. Whether you have questions or concerns about credits, graduation status, family concerns, grade-related issues, or absences, we're here to help. Our dedicated team has been hard at work since the beginning of the year, making schedule changes to ensure that your child's academic experience is tailored to their needs. Please note that the last day to request schedule changes is Friday, August 18th. After this date, students will need to schedule appointments with their respective counselors and changes will only be made if there are extenuating circumstances.
In other news, we are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our counseling team, Ms. Gina Florio, who will be joining us next week. This will increase our counselors from 4 to 5, allowing us to give more attention and provide more services to all of our students! As a result, your child's counselor assignment may change, but rest assured that every member of our team is committed to your child's well-being and success. We understand that communication is key, and the easiest way to reach us is through email. Please see below for our department emails.
Here's to a fantastic school year filled with growth, learning, and achievement. We look forward to collaborating with you to ensure your child's high school experience is enriching and fulfilling.

School Social Worker
Hello Cholla community! My name is Leslie Fragozo and I am a proud social worker at Cholla High School. My passion is and has always been to advocate for individuals, families, and communities in need. I have been in the field of social work for four years. I have experience working with diverse populations in both Flagstaff and Tucson, Arizona. My main role as a school social worker is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for students to express their concerns. Thank you to all the school social workers in our district for rising together to break down barriers so our students can be safe and successful in their communities.
Craig Wunderlich has been a school social worker at Cholla High for 33 years. This is a photo of him demonstrating pottery for an on-going art class. He also has facilitated on-going support groups, done individual counseling, and helped homeless students overcome their challenges to graduate from high school.
