Cougar Connect

Week of October 4th 2021

Principal Message Week of October 4th

We hope you all had a great weekend! Below is the Cougar Connect for the week of 10/04

Progress Reports

This is the 8th week of Trimester 1. Progress reports will be sent home via mail and email (if possible) this Friday, Oct 8. Please check your student’s grades on PowerSchool regularly so that you are aware of their performance.

COVID-19 Reminder

BAYPLS is RCSD’s new provider for COVID testing.

As mentioned in last week’s Cougar Connect, testing will occur onsite on Tuesdays from 10:15 am - 12:15 pm by appointment. Each Friday, through PrimaryHealth, RCSD will send out a sign-up student appointment link to all registered families to request an appointment. Parents who have registered their student on PrimaryHealth received a link this past Friday, Oct 1, 2021. Kennedy Administration will get a list of students who have an appointment on Monday and these students will be tested once on Tuesday or Thursday. Students will be pulled from class for this and we estimate it will take 5-10 minutes for each student to get tested (walking to and fro).

Testing will also occur on Thursdays from 1:30-4:30. This is open testing at Kennedy for all RCSD staff and students.

*Students must be registered via PrimaryHealth in order to be tested.

IREADY Testing Round #1

We are hoping that we can send iReady reports with the progress reports this week but in the event that we are unable to, we will send them with the Trimester 1 report card. Please reach out to your student’s ELA and math teacher or an administrator if you would like to obtain a copy of the iReady results.

Remember IReady will be administered 3 times (each trimester) to determine what grade level content students have learned, and what they still need to learn. It is a very valuable tool for teachers and families as it allows for student progress to be tracked throughout the year.

Cougar Store opens this week from Oct 5-7

Our online Cougar Store will open this week from Tuesday to Friday. As part of our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS), teachers award our students with Cougar Cash using our PBIS app found on Clever. Students earn Cougar Cash by practicing PAWS (Preparedness, Positive Attitude, Wise Choices and being Safe). Students can use their Cougar Cash to purchase items from our Cougar Store from Oct 5-8 and they will be able to pick up their purchases next week (Oct 12-16).

PTO and Birthday Cupcakes

A huge shoutout and thank you to our PTO! Stacie Ciraulo, president, and Kyla Bloomquist, vice-president, distributed cupcakes to all students who had a birthday in August and September during lunch on Friday, Oct 1. Students were happy and as a school community, we like to show our students that we care about them. This is something we plan on continuing as the school year progresses. Thank you, Stacie, Kyla and PTO!

We will be celebrating October birthdays the week of October 25th!
