Washington School News!
Thank you to all parents that were able to attend Parent Teacher Conferences! It was so nice to see our hallways filled with students and parents. I hope you had meaningful conversation with your child's teacher and understand your child's present levels of performance in their overall development.
Thank you to those that made donations for the teachers for breakfast, lunch and dinner! It was very appreciated as the staff put in 12-hour days on both Wednesday and Thursday. Your generosity did not go unnoticed!
On Tuesday, October 30th we will practice our first "lock-down" drill of the school year. Our staff explains this drill to children at an age-appropriate level. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
Remember that Wednesday, October 31st will be celebrated with BLACK & ORANGE day! Please no costumes, face paint or masks.
Have a wonderful week!
Thank you!
Ms. Stacie Brethouwer
Principal

We need substitutes!
The Neenah Joint School District would like to hire and retain qualified teacher and support staff substitutes. If you have an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and complete a substitute teacher training program, you can apply to become a substitute teacher.
CESA 6 is an agency that offers Substitute Teaching Training geared to NEW substitutes and/or those interested in growing their skills as a substitute teacher. At the end of the training, you will be able to apply for a 3-year substitute teacher license. Click HERE for more information regarding Substitute Teacher Training.
The District is also in need of support staff substitutes. There are many opportunities to support students and staff throughout the District. You have the option to accept assignments that work for you. Flexible starting and ending times will be considered based on individual assignments.
If you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher or support staff substitute, please complete an application on the WECAN website. Teacher Substitute candidates should apply to Vacancy #39096 and Support Staff Substitutes should apply to Vacancy #39097.
If you have any questions, please contact Janet Linke at 920-751-6800, ext. 10109 or jlinke@neenah.k12.wi.us
DISTRICT CALENDAR PROPOSALS FOR 2019-20, 2020-21
The district is in the process of reviewing and approving the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school year calendars. Many families may recall a few years ago, the elementary schools had an early dismissal schedule on Fridays. This practice was in place for over 20 years in the Neenah Joint School District.
The 2019-20 school year calendar proposal includes reinstating a 2:00 dismissal on Fridays for the early learning and elementary levels in an effort to support professional learning and staff collaboration so that we continue to provide the highest level of education for students.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Stacie
