Hypnotic Approaches
for the non-hypnotherapist
Presented by Bruce Hersey LCSW
This workshop is for professional counselors and therapists interested in boosting the effectiveness of their existing repertoire of modalities and skills by incorporating essential elements from the realm of clinical hypnosis.
You do not have to be trained in hypnosis to understand and utilize the learning from this training, nor will you need to 'hypnotize' your clients for them to benefit from your new understandings. Clinicians with previous clinical hypnosis training will also benefit from this perspective on the application of hypnotic processes to the usual course of therapy.
As a participant, you will learn about naturally occurring trance states and how best to recognize, facilitate and utilize these in your practice of modalities which you already know and use with your clients. You will understand multilevel communication and how to speak to unconscious elements of the personality simultaneous with the conscious parts. You will learn more effective ways of wording, timing, and sequencing of your interventions with knowledge of how hypnosis works.
Approved for 6 CE hours by NBCC & ASWB.

About Bruce
In his private practice in Altoona, he sees many adults individually or in couples and groups as well as conducting IFS Self-Development Workshops and Retreats for the public. He collaborates with Lois Ehrmann, PhD to provide Professional Trainings in IFS and related approaches.
Many of Bruce's clients throughout his 25 years of private practice have suffered from complex disorders of attachment and trauma. As a result, Bruce has always sought out the most advanced therapeutic training available, leading him to clinical hypnosis, EMDR & IFS. Professionals who have consulted him for licensing or certification in these specialties have received guidance through the lens of IFS, which provides a systemic non-pathologizing perspective that increases self-awareness in both the client and therapist.
