Ms. Mary's Busy Bees

Second Grade Monthly Newsletter

Welcome to a busy year!!

Welcome to Ms. Mary's (my) classroom!! I look forward to working with all of you this year. I have been a second grade teacher at Hope Elementary for nine years. I absolutely love this grade because second grade is a new challenge, it is not as easy as first grade and it will help the students transition to the third grade. I look forward to learn from you as well. So let's get started!!

First field trip of the year

For our first trip of this year we will be going to the Museum of Natural Science on the morning of September 9, where we will have a guided tour of the museum. We will spend much of our time at their butterfly center to help us prepare for our butterfly lesson. Parent volunteers are welcome to join us for a great day of adventure.

Let's learn the life cycle of the butterfly

After we come back from the trip to the museum, we will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. We will read the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We will learn the stages that a caterpillar go through to become a butterfly. And we will write a short story about a butterfly.

Introducing Billy Jones, our Star of the Month

Billy is a straight A student in Ms. Mary's class. He has also been a cub scout since the age of 4. In his spare time he likes to do jig saw puzzles, play baseball, and spend time with his parents and his little sister. Congratulations Billy for being the star of the month, we are very proud of you :-)
