AVID Implementation
This week, Renner students implemented AVID by learning about the qualities needed to be a successful teacher/successful student and collaborating with one another using Kagan structures.
AVID Request: As we continue our AVID journey, we would like for our families to be represented in our college and career corner. If your family would like to participate, please send in a pennant or poster from your college alma mater, technical school, local union, etc. We appreciate your participation!
Birthday Treats
Car Rider Procedures
- Beginning on Monday, August 30, all parents picking up car riders must have their car rider placard displayed, even if we know you. On occasion, we have staff or substitutes who do not know all families. Parents who do not have a placard will be asked to park and go to the office to receive their child(ren). If you need a placard, please call the office at 359-4350.
- Parents should remain in their vehicle. If a child needs assistance, a staff member will be there to help.
- Please avoid honking and driving around cars that are loading/unloading students.
Congratulations, Mrs. Schumacher
ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING HONOR: Congratulations to Renner Elementary English language development (ELD) teacher Marcy Schumacher for earning the prestigious WIDA Fellow award for the 2021-2022 school year. WIDA, an international organization that supports multilingual learners, is responsible for our ELD assessments, materials and proficiency measures. #ParkHillProud
As a WIDA fellow, Schumacher will participate in a collaborative learning group, and she will help develop and improve the professional learning resources and opportunities that WIDA provides for teachers. The organization is also paying for Schumacher to attend a conference, so she can bring best practices back to the district.
Food Services
Breakfast and lunch are served daily. Breakfast starts at 7:55AM. Menus are available on the Park Hill School District Nutrition Services Website.

Nominate a Park Hill Star
Nominate a Staff Member for the Park Hill STAR Award
Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.
That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a Pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee. Anyone can nominate an employee for this award by using the form below. It asks you to share how your nominee demonstrates our district values of continuous improvement, high expectations, integrity, visionary leadership and student focus. You can also share how your nominee supports the goals in our district’s strategic plan.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a way to support everyone and create a school where all students are successful. It is a commitment to addressing student behavior through systems change. When it’s implemented well, students achieve improved social and academic outcomes, schools experience reduced exclusionary discipline practices, and school personnel feel more effective.
This week, Renner students learned about expectations in different areas of the building.
PTA
It's time to sign up for PTA memberships for the 2021-2022 school year. All memberships will be collected online via the below link. Proceeds from PTA memberships goes to support the students and teachers by providing supplies and experiences.

Each year, our reading interventionists, Mrs. Mecklenburg and Mrs. Palmer, educate families on what it means that Renner is classified as a Title 1 School that receives Title 1 funds and also explains the goals of Title 1. This year they will be presenting their information virtually on Microsoft Teams.
