What is Alcohol?
Alcohol is the most widely used recreational drug in Australia. Alcohol is a flammable liquid, that is the produced by wine, beer, spirits, and vodka.
Short and Long term Effects of Alcohol
Alcohol can produce many short term effects on your body depending how much you drink. Depending on how much is taken and the physical condition of the individual, alcohol can cause:
· Slurred speech
· Drowsiness
· Vomiting
· Diarrhea
· Headaches
Alcohol can also have many long term effects on your body and can potentially ruin your life. Binge drinking and continued alcohol use in large amounts are associated with many health problems, including:
· Liver disease
· Nerve damage
· Unintentional injuries such as car crash, falls, burns, drowning
· High blood pressure, stroke, and other heart-related diseases
