Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful break and enjoyed your time together! I love the start of the new year and all the promise it holds.
I love seeing the students as they are branching out and trying new books. It is so fun to help them find books they are enjoying! Please keep talking to your students about what they are reading. Classes will be coming into the library this week to get new books with their literature classes, so be sure to ask what great read they found!
I am pleased to announce that DCIS will be hosting author Jennifer Nielsen on Monday, January 29, 2024. She is the author of many incredible middle grade books such as 2024 Sequoyah nominated Lines of Courage, Iceberg, Resistance, A Night Divided, as well as the Ascendance series and the Mark of the Thief series. Order forms will be sent home with your child if you would like to order autographed copies of her historical fiction books. Order forms are due to Mrs. Newkirk by NEXT FRIDAY, JANUARY 12. Click here for the order form.
We will be working with Literati for our book fairs this year. If you would like to support the library further outside of our book fairs, you can sign your student up for the Literati Kids Book Club. For a $9.95 monthly membership, Literati will hand choose five books and send them to your home. The books are priced to match or beat Amazon’s prices. Simply pay for the books you like. Return the ones that do not fit. For every dollar spent, the DCIS library will receive ten cents to purchase new library books. If you sign up now, you can get 50% off your first three boxes. For more information or to sign up, visit literati.com/50off3boxes.
Students will be using library cards from the Metropolitan Library System this year. If you do not yet have one, you can visit the Metro Library location closest to you or you can sign up for an eCard at https://www.metrolibrary.org/about-us/account/registration. If you live outside of Oklahoma County, please visit the nearest Metro Library location and ask for help in getting a student card.
Should any questions or concerns regarding the library come up, please do not hesitate to contact me. The easiest way is by email at email@example.com.
