ILT INFORMAL WALK THROUGHS
Informal walk throughs will begin this week. The informal walk throughs will be conducted by NVMS administrators and ILT members. The purpose of these walk throughs are to ensure fidelity to the building’s grade level engagement plan.
MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION
Student Expectations: Thank you for your patience and flexibility in allowing students to re-acclimate (or in the case of our 6th graders, acclimate for the first time) to our school-wide expectations. However, now that we are entering the second week of school it is time to more firmly hold students to the standard that we have collectively set. This especially includes taking accurate attendance at the beginning of each class period and our practices around cell phones and electronics. Also, note that all students will be participating in the North View Code of Conduct presentation on Tuesday, September 17. This presentation will cover and reinforce all of our key expectations as they pertain to student engagement and behavior support. If you have any questions please reach out to your grade level administrator or Mr. Berg.
Lunch Dismissal: The admin team is very much aware of the delayed dismissals coming out of both lunches and the consequent tardies resulting from it. Please know that with increased enrollment both lunches are more crowded than they were last year and that we are working to streamline the process while still ensuring a safe cafeteria environment. We will hopefully have an update for you during our upcoming House meetings. In the meantime, thank you for your patience and understanding.
The September System Professional Learning meeting is being offered in an online learning format and is now open for you to work on. It is due October 4, 2019. You may choose to complete your learning online at a day and time of your choosing or join Kelly Armstrong on Sept. 9 for a facilitated online work session in room 209.
To access the learning materials, log into Schoology and open the 2019-2020 System Professional Learning folder(see picture below). Please see the picture for a visual of how to access materials. Or get there by following these steps:

TIER THREE (RED ZONE) REFERRALS:
If you are reporting an incident that involves a threat to staff or student safety, please be sure to connect with Kim Sturdy personally. Because admin is not always at our desks during the school day, emailing or leaving a message for us might not get a timely response. You can do this by calling her or stopping down to the admin office.
The link found here will take you to a form to report any non-emergency conditions that could contribute to an unsafe school environment and/or to make suggestions that will improve school safety. When completing this form, it is not necessary to identify yourself*, but please be as specific as possible so we can respond effectively. All submissions will be reviewed daily and discussed at our weekly administrative meetings. This form should not be used in lieu of discipline referrals or to report emergency situations. If you have any questions about this form, please let me know and I will assist.
