PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Students safety online:
The Wisconsin Department of Justice and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction have worked together to put out information to help keep our kids safe while being online. Here are some of the tips they list.
- The best way to protect your children online is through creating and maintaining open lines of communication. Internet safety is about parenting --- software programs alone will not protect your children.
- Prepare your children for the online world as you would the real world. Talk to them about dangers and risks online. Talk with your children about their online activity, including the websites they are visiting, the people they are communicating with, the information they are posting about themselves, and any situations that make them feel scared, uncomfortable or confused.
- Place computers in common areas where supervision can occur. Remember that smart phones have Internet access, too!
- Know your child's passwords, screen names and account information.
If you'd like more information on this please go to: https://www.doj.state.wi.us/dci/icac/resources-materials
Let the school know if you have any questions or concerns about school in general. We are here to work together.

Notes from the Office
End of day dismissal: We have had a big increase in last minute change of plans for student's leaving at the end of the day. The end of the school day is very busy throughout our school. To avoid confusion at dismissal and for the safety of the students, phone calls after 2:00 pm regarding changes in your child's dismissal must be limited to emergency situations. We appreciate your cooperation.
Posted below is from our Family Handbook.
Change of a student’s dismissal plan
Students will follow regular plans unless a parent has notified the school with a note or phone call. Parents may change a student’s plan with a note or a phone call up until 2:00 that day. After 2:00, plans should not be altered, unless it is an emergency. This is to ensure a mistake is not made with last minute changes. The student will follow the regular dismissal schedule for that day as planned. Students staying after school for practice, scouts, etc., MUST HAVE A NOTE EACH TIME.
Parents that email a teacher should also email office staff of changes but this must be done before 1:00 PM. If a teacher doesn’t respond, that means the message didn’t get seen so a follow up phone call is necessary.
The Spring Music Curriculum Concert for 5K - 5th grade will be held on Friday, May 26th!
There will be one concert at 9:30 AM. All families are invited to watch the morning concert to see the learning their child has been involved in this school year. Thank you for supporting the student's at Abrams Elementary.
