- Do you have work displayed in or out of your classroom?
- Two rigorous questions embedded in each learning activity in your lesson plan.
- Higher ordered questioning throughout the lesson.
- Activities / Assignments that go beyond the who, what, when or basic question/answer. We're looking for activities/assignments that answer the whys and what ifs.
- Current vocabulary posted on the board and utilized in context in the lesson.
- A word wall that is up-to-date with words, pics and meanings that is used during instruction to help students understand connections/meanings.
- Vocabulary strategies used with current vocabulary to help with understanding. (charades, word maps, vocab.com, pictionary, motion vocabulary, etc.)
Continue to work toward including these in each of your lessons! We will give direct feedback, specifically about these things.

- SPORTS BAGS -
- Athletes / Afterschool activities that require a sports / equipment / clothes-change bag, must store their non-see-through bag with their coach/sponsor. Please find a space in your room that is not easily accessible to other students and review with your athletes/students the expectations of how the bags/equipment will be stored (orderly and organized fashion).
- Athletes/students should bring their equipment/ bags BEFORE going to homeroom class. They should NOT report to homeroom, then leave to bring their bag.
- Athletes/students should not leave their classroom at the end of the day UNTIL the 2nd bell to retrieve their bag. This will ensure students can be supervised by coaches while retrieving their bag and changing out for practice in the locker rooms / bathrooms. Please help enforce this.
- Below you will find storage locations that will ensure students are supervised while storing their bag. If there are any issues or concerns, please see Mrs. Tippett or myself privately to come up with a solution.
- SMARTWATCHES - If a student is using a smartwatch as anything other than a watch during instructional / school time, it can be confiscated and turned into the office. Smartwatches work the same as a cell phone if used during the school day without permission.

We have had a good bit of "hanging out" / "play fighting" in the bathrooms.
- In preparation for our March 23-24 guests please help our custodians by having your students tidy up the classrooms. Shelves, countertops, and desks should be free organized and free of trash. If you have maintenance needs please email me ASAP so we can have them taken care of.

Recently, Scotland High School has jumped on board, as well as Carver. Here is the link to continue your trial, until we officially get vocabulary.com https://vocab.com/try/40mf8rd Official information will be shared soon. Resources As a school, we have several resources. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RRMUB9v-jrbgkV0ppHJxgWh33oMx8PHQRvFITmrTwAI/edit Please be sure you are utilizing these resources, when planning. It is imperative Learning.com is also utilized. There will be training on Learning.com at our upcoming February 21 PD. Many teachers have not used NewsELA. Please be reminded, there is a school expectation that all Core Teachers (except Math) incorporate Passages in their instruction. Teachers should be reviewing text structures in this process. NewsELA was purchased to assist with finding passages. If you have not signed your students up, please do so ASAP. https://newsela.com/join/#/school/67484 Use your @scsnc.org account to sign up.
