Parent and Guardians,
On Friday, Nov. 18th our students spent the half day collaborating with their classmates and building knowledge on self-management skills. Each class created a team flag that represented their class and participated in collaborative activities in our collaboratory focusing on their individual strengths. Students had a choice to compete in physical challenges, artistic challenges, or performance challenges. It was exciting to see them all working together and cheering on their classmates during these events. In the classroom, students participated in a "freeze frame" activity where they had to practice looking at a situation from multiple vantage points in order to make an effective decision. They learned about gratitude and how it helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. Each student created a leaf for our tree listing the things they are each grateful for in their life. It was a wonderful day for our students and teachers.
This week we will have conferences on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Students will have a 1/2 day and will rotate through each class period. We look forward to seeing you all at conferences and hope you each have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
