Our Promise
Every student in Dallas School District is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates ready for career, college, and community.
A tweet I read and a trip to the store. Reflections upon this past week.
I read a tweet recently that made me stop and think a bit. I have provided the link below as there were many others who chimed in on the topic. We talk about family at LaCreole and I believe that we mean it. Culture is truly one thing that keeps me up at night and I worry about maintaining a good balance amongst our kids and staff. I also understand the power of finding joy in the work that we do and it is typically a direct relation to the joy we get from those that we work with. We know the work that we do is becoming increasingly more difficult and relationships and support of our coworkers matters, boy oh boy it matters! I have been told that our school is very welcoming and that is a reflection of our culture and the people that work here. I believe we mean it and it is indeed impacting our work performance and learning in positive ways.
I thought I would give you an update on our family's remixed Sunday Night Dinners. As I mentioned earlier this year I have brought back our family dinners on the second Sunday of each month. So far so good, we have just completed our third month and we are still looking forward to the next. This is good news but the reason I bring this up is due to an interesting interaction I had with a worker in the store who was the checker at the stand I was going through. She asked, "having a barbecue?" As she noticed the massive amount of goods in my cart, I felt compelled to tell her about our Sunday Night Dinner. She was really impressed with the fact that we all, for the most part, enjoyed each other and she felt compelled to share with me that her family avoided such get-togethers like the plague. The point of all this is that families each place their own value on relationships. There are those that want to spend time with each other or those that would rather not if given the choice.
As I reflect upon this past week and with all of our family get-togethers and celebrating our classified staff, it was great to see so much appreciation and love that was shared for all of our staff. So, there you have it, the tweet and stars aligned for this message of appreciation. Thanks for all that you do and the work you all put into relationships both with our kids and our staff!
Glad you're here!
