Dear Terrier Students and School Family,
As we all celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday I want to share some fun facts about wy we celebrate MLK Jr.
- King was the youngest person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a national holiday.
- At the Atlanta premier of the movie Gone with the Wind, Martin sang with his church choir.
- There are over 730 streets in the United States named after Martin Luther King, Jr.
- One of his main influences was Mohandas Gandhi who taught people to protest in a non-violent manner.
- He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
- He is often referred to by his initials MLK.
It is always important to learn history. It can help you understand the world as a whole. Reading fun facts is fun. Students, If you ever want to share any fun facts with me please do so.
Students and families, It is important that students attend school everyday. They miss valuable instruction every day they are not present. If your child is sick. Make sure that you call the school to let us know, so it can be documented accurately. Any student can attend Saturday school and make up 1 day of absence for each day they attend.
At our school, we follow SPARK! Meaning we, are all Safe, Positive, Active learner, Respectful, Kind. As Terriers it is important that students be an upstander and not a bystander when a student is not following the rules. Please report all forms of bullying to an adult. We have a strong anti-bullying process. Please use the link to report any bullying to our team. We will investigate and provide a resolution.
