Winners will be announced for each campus and the elementary and secondary winners will interview for the Lisa M.Z. Teacher Excellence Award.

Argyle ISD Bond 2022: What's In the Proposal?

The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees recently approved calling a bond election for May 7, 2022.

Trustees approved the community-led Bond & Growth Planning Committee's (BGPC) recommendation of a $267,885,000 bond proposal which will be presented to voters in three separate propositions on the ballot. The tax impact if the bond is approved would be $15 per $100,000 property value per year.

Proposition A - New Schools, Infrastructure, Safety Updates & Buses

  • Elementary School #4 - $39,433,000 (2024)
  • Elementary School #5 - $44,512,000 (2026)
  • New Middle School #1 - $103,515,000 (2025)
  • Funding for Future Land - $20,000,000
  • Design Fees for Middle School #2 - $4,975,000
  • Buses - $4,500,000
  • Furniture Refresh (Hilltop & Argyle Middle School) - $2,000,000
  • Safety & Security Updates - $1,000,000
  • Hilltop Elementary playground improvements - $500,000
  • Acoustic Sound Shell at AHS auditorium - $350,000
  • Technology Infrastructure - $300,000

Proposition B - Stadium

  • Stadium at Argyle High School in Canyon Falls - $26,915,000 (2024)

Proposition C - Indoor Activity Center

  • Indoor Activity Center at Argyle High School in Canyon Falls - $19,885,000 (2025)

Argyle Holds First Place in Lone Star Cup Standings

There is a familiar name atop the leaderboard in the UIL Lone Star Cup Class 4A standings. Argyle High School is currently in first place with 54 points and is nine points ahead of second-place Celina. Argyle owns 11 Lone Star Cup Championships (second-most in the state) and has a current state-record streak of nine consecutive. This also marks Argyle's final year in Class 4A as it will transition to competing in 5A starting in the 2022-2023 school year.

The Lone Star Cup is awarded to the most successful schools in the state in academic, fine arts and athletic competitions.

So far this year Argyle has a state championship in Marching Band, and second-place finishes at state in Boys' Cross Country, Team Tennis and Spirit Squad.

The Argyle ISD School Board approved the 2022-2023 school calendar during Tuesday's regular meeting. The calendar is structured very similarly to last year's calendar. The first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 15, 2022. The last day of school is May 19, 2023.

Argyle ISD will be off the week of Thanksgiving and the winter break will be held from Dec. 16 to Jan. 3 for students. Staff will return on Jan. 2.

Spring break in 2023 will be March 13-17.

AMS Cheer Takes First Place

Earlier this month, the Argyle Middle School cheerleaders had an outstanding performance and earned first place at the Mustang Invitational in Grapevine. They won first place in middle school cheer and were Grand Champions of all non-varsity teams at the event.

AMS also competed at the National Cheerleaders Association competition last weekend and took 5th place out of 16 teams from across the country. AMS won first place overall in sideline spirit!

What A Show! The Wizard of Oz Showcases AHS Theatre

What a fantastic job last weekend by the Argyle High School Theatre Department on its performances of The Wizard of Oz! The rave reviews by those who attended highlight the talent that helped make this show a success.

Congratulations to the talented cast & crew and the AHS Theatre Department's Melissa Toomer and Jessica Reynolds for providing such an incredible treat for the community!

West Elementary Hosts Parent Connection Event

Argyle ISD held a helpful informational night for all elementary parents in association with the Connections Wellness Group at the Argyle West Elementary cafeteria. Elementary counselors (pictured) hosted the event to help guide parents through the effects of screen time and social media on pre-teens.

About 30 parents attended and another event is planned for March. Be sure to watch for information coming soon on the next event to engage and stay connected.

COVID-19 Cases - Reporting & Dashboard

Argyle ISD is providing a COVID-19 dashboard to keep parents, staff, students and the community aware of the positive case totals at the campuses. The dashboard is updated by 6 p.m. each school day. The numbers are based on only cases confirmed through documentation with campus nurses.


School Board Trustee Application Deadline Feb. 18

Argyle ISD will hold a School Board Election on May 7. Two seats will be on the ballot - Place 6 and Place 7. These places are currently held by Brad Lowry (Place 6) and Jeff Williams (Place 7).

Applications can now be submitted for the Board Election and more information can be found on the Argyle ISD website. Click HERE for the Trustee application packet. The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is Feb. 18.

Board Extends Superintendent's Contract

The Argyle ISD School Board unanimously approved the contract extension of Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright during a special meeting earlier this week.

The Board approved Dr. Wright's contract through June 30, 2025. Dr. Wright has served as AISD Superintendent since 2009 and has successfully established a legacy of success as the district boasts 11 UIL Lone Star Cup championships. Under her leadership, Argyle ISD has passed voter-approved bond elections to manage student enrollment growth with the addition of a new high school and two new elementary schools. She has led the fast-growth planning as the district enrollment has surpassed 4,300 and more than 500 employees.

Eagle Guard Reaches 1,000 Career Points

Eagle senior guard Eli Valentino reached an impressive milestone. The three-year starter reached the 1,000 career point mark in Argyle's victory against Lake Worth. The Eagles return to action Friday at home vs. Krum at 8 p.m. First-place Argyle is coming off a 64-32 victory Tuesday at Bridgeport.

The No. 1 state-ranked Lady Eagles (29-0) battle Krum at home on Friday at 6:15 p.m. The Lady Eagles are coming off a road victory on Tuesday at Bridgeport 60-39.

Lady Eagle Senior Featured In DRC

Read more about Argyle Lady Eagle guard Caroline Lyles in the Denton Record-Chronicle. Caroline is in her first year at Argyle and her courageous journey includes the loss of her mother and her father's battle with cancer. She has been an important addition to the Lady Eagles, who are undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 4A.

Argyle Powerlifting Finishes Second

The Argyle Eagle powerlifting team finished second overall in the first meet of the season in Crandall. Senior Mark Castle earned the title "Best Overall Lifter." The girls finished fourth and Mia Rablais earned "Best Overall Lifter" and also captured first in her division. Sophomore Tessa Kneip finished first in her division and sophomore Cassidy Owen finished in second place.

Cross Elizardo (11th) finished 1st in the 148lb division. (905 total lbs)

Mark Castle (12th) finished 1st in the 165lb division. (1,115 total lbs)

Aaron Gomez (9th) 2nd place in 181lb (1,095 total lbs)

Caden Yates (11th) 3rd place in 198lb (1,065 total lbs)

Jake Hartjen (9th) 3rd place in 220lb (795 total lbs)

Raymond Martinich (9th) 2nd place in 242lb (880 total lbs)

Hunter Bartram (9th) 3rd place in 242lb (840 total lbs)

Tyler Roberts (9th) 3rd place in 275lb (885 total lbs)

Thor Johannson (10th) 2nd place in 308lb (1,035 total lbs)

Soccer Teams Host Gainesville Friday

Both Argyle soccer teams are in action at home on Friday at Eagle Stadium. The Lady Eagles host Gainesville at 5:30 p.m. and the Eagles host Gainesville at 7:30 p.m.
