D is for Delicious!

Thank you to Mr. Luster and Mr. Anderson for taking their students to the bakery D is for Delicious in Chardon. The students went as part of a project where they have been exploring job and careers that interest them. The students were addressed by the baker who is a true entrepreneur. She shared her story of starting in her home kitchen and then grew so rapidly she could open her own bakery. They toured the kitchen, made cookies, and decorated them.

Personalized Learning Project- Africa!

7th grade went to Lake Erie College to kick start their Africa personalized learning project. Sam Mutemwa shared his education story with the students. He is from Africa and is a recent graduate from Lake Erie. When he started his education he carved information on empty sacks in classrooms without desks. The first time he was given a pencil he called it a stick, never seeing one before. He left them with a quote that continues to inspire him. "When others sit, you stand! When others stand, you stand out! When others stand out, be outstanding!" He plans to bring technology to Africa's schools. He is for sure going places it was an honor to meet him. Students were then given a tour of LEC and provided lunch. We will write thank you letters this week.
