PTO
Piedmont Academy’s PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) plays a vital role at PAC. PTO has mothers of students for grades K3 through 12. The vice president is Tara Pope, who teaches at Piedmont Academy. Mandi Tanner is the secretary. Holly Frank, who also works at PAC, is the PTO treasurer. On Thursday, February 2nd, PTO sponsored a Valentine Paint Party. The party took place from 3pm to 5pm. The party was in the art room, and the cost was $20 to attend. Snacks were provided, too. The PTO Valentine Paint Party raised money for Piedmont and the PTO. Everyone had an enjoyable time!

Devotional
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ Jesus forgave you.
Ephesians 4:31-32
One of my biggest flaws is allowing anger to fester inside of me or to harbor bitterness towards someone who has not treated me right. Although you may feel entitled to treat someone wrong and to be angry at them, it is not what Paul tells us God wants us to do in Ephesians chapter four. Ephesians chapter four is my favorite chapter of the entire Bible because of the important lesson it teaches. This time last year, I found myself being bitter and mad at certain people because of what they had done or said to me.
If you find yourself in this bad place, too, lay it down at God’s feet. Tell Him everything you feel; He cares about what you have to say! Holding on to these emotions will hurt you in the long run, not the person you are mad at. Instead, be kind, and be forgiving. God forgives our worst sins, and He loves us despite our flaws. If God can do this for every person in this world, you can also forgive people who hurt you.

Elementary Reading Bowl
Elementary Reading Bowl has been a Piedmont extra-curricular activity for many years. Reading Bowl is when you read 18-19 books that have won multiple awards. After you read the books, you meet with your team. You and your team practice until the competition on February 3, 2017. The competition can get very argumentative.
The competition consists of five to six players on a team. The teams then compete by answering ten questions. If the players think something is wrong with the answer, they can turn to their coach. Their coach will then argue the question, and if the argument is right they will get the point. The competition is a double elimination.
If there is a tie they will then have a tie breaker round between the two teams. The two teams then battle it out until one has the most points. The teams do not need to worry though because the top two teams go to state. The team who wins state is the labeled as the Reading Bowl champions. Reading Bowl is obviously more than just reading books and competing; it usually means a lot more to the players.

Piedmont Electives
Currently, we have four electives here at Piedmont Academy. We have journalism, publications, art, and weight lifting. The journalism team writes articles and posts them in the online school newspaper. They interview teachers and students to get information and write articles about the topic they are given. The journalism elective is taught by Mrs. Molly Tyree. Publications is in charge of getting the yearbook together for the end of the year. The publication team writes articles, ask students questions, and take pictures around the school to make the yearbook colorful and professional-looking. The elective is taught by Mrs. Tracy Brady. Art is a fun elective for students who are interested in art. The class teaches them to paint and draw. The class also teaches the students to be creative. The students help make the school decorative by doing the elementary hall bulletin board and more. The class is taught by Mrs. Johnson. The last elective we have is weight lifting. The class helps get students in shape and helps the students who are playing sports keep in shape for the games. The class is taught by Coach Colt Spivey.

Creative Writing: Explain to the historians of the 2150 what it’s like to go to a shopping mall.
Shopping malls today are popular hangout spots; they are always crowded. Malls are multiple stores and restaurants in one. People shop for clothes, shoes, and other things and eat lunch while never even leaving the building. To pay for the things that are bought, one must use a credit card, debit card, cash, or even a check. There are usually many floors at a mall. Instead of stairs to get from floor to floor, there are usually escalators. Escalators are moving stairs. Some escalators go up and some go down. Malls are fun places to hang out, but if you don’t like crowds, it may not be the best for you.
