VECHS - Wolf Pack News

April 24, 2022

Student Progress

We have noticed an increase in student absences and decreases in high school and college course averages, both of which can significantly impact your students' success in passing classes. Students must maintain daily attendance and passing course averages with only two remaining weeks in college courses and three weeks before high school final exams.

As a result of the concerns being schoolwide, we would greatly appreciate parental support in conducting weekly reviews of your student's high school and college progress. High school class assignments are accessible through PowerSchool; college course grades and assignments are accessible through students' VGCC Moodle accounts.

High School Course Failure

Parents/legal guardians and students will be required to attend a June meeting to discuss students' possible school exit plan prior to August 2022.

AVISO Alerts is VGCC's notification system to alert students (via their VGCC email) of important messages such as:

tutoring referrals

attendance alerts

missing assignments

low course average

Parents, please click on the VECHS Parent AVISO Alert registry to receive a notification also.

Students' current course enrollments, class assignments, and grades may be accessed via their VGCC Moodle account.

Students' degree progress, transcripts, and past course grades may be accessed via their myVGCC student account.

Early Dismissal

Students may turn in a signed note from their parent or legal guardian stating the date and time of the early dismissal to Ms. Henry. If prior written notice is received, parents must report to the school office with a state-issued photo ID to sign out students.

2022-23 VCS & VGCC Course Scheduling

Per VCS Student Attendance Board Policy 4400: Daily classroom attendance is required for all face-to-face and online high school classes.

Students must communicate and meet with the college liaison for fall, spring, and summer course schedules, college advisory sessions, and as requested by Miss Robinson.

Some considerations for college course schedules may include:

College courses are scheduled based on the availability of courses as aligned with high school class schedules, state testing scores, and academic success of previously enrolled college courses.

Due to the logistics of scheduling, high school and college course schedules are NOT created or changed to accommodate work schedules.

Student schedules extend the school day: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
