Local Vocals Lowdown

We had a fun class this week! The students were introduced to solfège. Solfège is also known as the ABC’s of music. It describes the musical scale using one-vowel-sound syllables that is easier than the traditional 8-note scale names: C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C or scale numbers: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1.The solfège scale looks like this: Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Ti-Do. Just like in "The Sound of Music"! We used solfège to engage in a fun pitch matching and harmonizing game. The students were also introduced to some of the hand motions that represent solfège. See if your child can show you a couple of them!
