Real Life Geo Planning
During a fifth-grade geography activity, students created maps that would guide students past landmarks along a designated trail. Along the way, students identified city parks, campsites, picnic areas, and even inner tube rental stations. The in-school activity not only taught students about maps, but students also used fractions to determine the distance between activities. Please visit the school's Facebook page for more pictures of the project.

Moving Forward
Classroom placement is an important process for our students. Our teachers and staff invest significant time and effort to ensure the creation of healthy learning groups and environments. It is important to develop balanced classrooms by considering students’ gender, academic, social, and emotional needs. We strive to create an optimal learning environment for students in each of our teacher’s classrooms.
If you wish to share more specific information about your child's placement, please indicate your thoughts on this Optional Parent Input Form. Please complete the form no later than midnight on April 30, 2020. For more information, please read the news bulletin on the Half Day website.
Coming This May
Run for D103
Early Bird Registration is now open for the 10th Annual Run for D103 5K Run/Walk. This PTO sponsored event will be held at Daniel Wright Junior High School on Saturday, May 9, at 8 AM. Not a runner but looking to volunteer? The 5K Run/Walk Committee could use your help. Choose from over 50 opportunities and find the one that works best for you.
This annual event is a marquee fundraiser that D103 students and families look forward to every year. It has become known in the community as a fun, family race event hosting over 600 runners and attendees.
With a focus on health and fitness, entertainment, and education, over the past five years, the event has funded approximately $150,000 for D103 schools recreational sports fields, playgrounds and most recently the PTO helped fund the replacement of the existing "spine out" book shelving at the Sprague Elementary library with an innovative "face out" shelving system. This year, all proceeds raised from the event will go toward equipping the brand new STEM Lab currently under construction at Daniel Wright.
