School Pictures
School pictures will also take place on these 2 evenings in the gymnasium. Plan to spend some extra time at school for your Hillcrest child to have their picture taken. If your conference is scheduled for 6:45, please come early to have your child's pictures taken. All students need to have their pictures taken for school purposes even if you do not plan to purchase a picture package.
Pre-pay picture envelopes have been sent home with our child in October. Pictures can be ordered by returning your envelope on the night of your conference or you can order pictures by going on line to mylifetouch.com (use Picture Day ID: MI438006Y0). Online orders will be accepted 48 hours after Picture Day.

PRACTICING SAFETY AT HILLCREST
The Chippewa Falls School District is very concerned about the safety of all students. Fire drills, tornado drills and safety drills are practiced at various times. Specifically at Hillcrest, we practice fire drills once a month (weather permitting) a tornado drill in the spring and safety drills twice a year. We also have a safety response plan in place, a safety committee, and a first response team to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
In November we will practice the HOLD safety drill. This command would be used to keep students in their room if a safety issue was taking place in school. Key elements of this drill would be:
Lock room doors, students stay in rooms, continue class as usual, release no one, ignore all bells and listen for the “All Clear” signal.
In December we will practice the SECURE safety drill. This command would be used if a major safety issue were taking place in the school. One example of this would be a dangerous intruder in the building. This drill may cause some students to be afraid, but the classroom teachers help students understand that this is a drill and hopefully never to be used. Key elements of this drill would be:
Lock room door, pull shades, get on the floor away from windows and door, release no one, ignore bells, maintain silence, be prepared to stay in “lock down” mode for an extended period of time, listen for the “All Clear” signal.
Like all schools, it is our hope that we would never have to use these safety measures in a real situation, but we must be prepared. Should you have any questions about the Chippewa Falls School District safety plan/procedures call Mr. Knowlton at the Board of Education office. If you have any specific Hillcrest questions, please call Mrs. Lancette.
Parking in School Zones
Parking is allowed on the opposite side of the street from school; however, remember do not obstruct mailboxes, fire hydrant and driveways along the way.
Parking tickets may be issued to any violators of no parking areas around the school.
Parking is also allowed in our district office parking lot, east of Hillcrest School.
