Trace Crossings Elementary School Community:
Please see this week’s bulletin for a list of scheduled events and activities.
A Message from the Health Room
We are beginning to see a spike in flu cases and other illnesses at school. Please remember if your student has a fever of 100 degrees or higher they MUST remain home for 24 hours or until fever free. If a student is sent home from school with a fever they must remain home the following day and can not return to school until they are fever free WITHOUT the use of Tylenol or Motrin. Please encourage our students to use good hand washing. It is the best way to prevent the spread of illness.
If your student is vomiting please keep them home from school. They MUST be able to tolerate a full meal before returning to school. If your student is sent home from school due to vomiting, they may return to school the next day ONLY if they are fever free and have not vomited that morning.
Please send in school excuses as soon as possible. All school excuses must be turned in within three days of an absence.
If your student has tested positive for the flu at the doctor’s office, please email your teacher or Nurse Dewberry to let us know. Our district keeps track of the number of flu illnesses in each school. If possible, also let us know if is is Type A or Type B flu.
We have also seen an increase in the number of head lice cases. Lice tends to spread in the winter time due to many children wearing heavy coats with hoods and hats. Remember to wash your student's winter coats and hats regularly in hot water to prevent the spread of lice. Encourage your student not to share their hats with other students. Girls with long hair may want to wear it up in a braid or a tight bun. Please be sure to check your student at home regularly for head lice. Please be sure to call Nurse Dewberry and report if your child gets head lice.

Erin’s Law Information (Lessons to be presented in Spring 2019)
Attention All Parents: To comply with Erin’s Law, HCS school counselors and administrators have created a plan to provide basic child sexual abuse prevention lessons for students. We have prepared a brief video that outlines plans for elementary, middle and high school levels. You will find more detailed information on HCS’s plan to implement Erin’s Law, including the option for your child to opt out of these lessons if you so choose. This information is also available in Spanish.
Each month we will highlight a character trait. January’s trait was SELF-CONTROL. Every teacher was looking for one boy and one girl in their class who was displaying this character trait daily. Special congratulations to the following winners for the month of January. These students will receive a free meal card to Chick fil A. February’s trait is Service.
