Habitat
the tarantula live in many types of environments, including tropical rain forests and desert areas. most tarantulas are found in Africa, Asia, South and Central America, Mexico, and the southwestern United States.(SIRS) In the winter, spiders go into dormant stage mainly because the bugs (there food source) goes scares. (SIRS) Some spiders live in spider webs and some in burrows.

- Tarantulas don't spit silk out, they pull it out with there hind legs (The Tarantula Scientist, 52)
- There are over 800 species, or types, of tarantulas in the world (SIRS)

- Some types of tarantulas are even kept as pets.
- Tarantulas can live up to 30 years. (SIRS)
- There are no population estimates for tarantulas (SIRS)
- In some countries. Tarantulas are used for food.
