Notes from the desks of Mrs. Senior and Mrs. Mitchell September 6, 2022

Hello Ninja Nation,

Happy September! We hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and are ready for a great week of learning. These week we have three big items of focus for you:

1. Testing

2. Progress Reports

3. RSVP for in person live lessons (on the 13th)

All of these items are important and will need a bit of your time and attention. You will receive specific communication from your student's teacher regularly so please be on the lookout. Please remember-teachers email through Canvas. Be sure that you have signed up for an observer account or check your student's email at least once a day.

Important Dates:

  • September 9th - Progress Reports (Core classes only and will be accessed through the Parent Portal)

  • September 13th - Live Lesson Day (Please complete the RSVP below)

  • October 17 - Teacher planning day, No school for students

  • October 25 - Report Cards

  • November 1 - Picture Day 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Crews Lake Middle School

September 13th IN-PERSON Live Lesson RSVP

Help us plan for the upcoming Live Lesson Day in September by filling out the RSVP form. Please tell us if you plan on dropping off your ninja for this event. We need every family to fill out the form with a yes or no so that we can plan for the ninjas who will be in attendance. Our school has grown so much in the last two years that our Live Lesson events will no longer include Learning Guides. Learning Guides will be invited to stay for Live Lessons during park meet-ups only. If your child is planning on attending the Live Lesson day, please pack a lunch and drink for the day.

Importance of Independence

As adults it is often very hard to watch children struggle to accomplish tasks and this gets even harder when we feel the stakes are high, like for testing. However we want to stress to you that it is CRITICAL that you allow your student to demonstrate their own abilities without any outside assistance during their testing. As hard as it is, this is what is best for them and helps us to know where learning gaps might be so that we can help them grow.

Preparing Your Computer for FAST Testing

FAST testing for grades 3- 5 (to be scheduled with your student's teacher) will be starting this week through 9/21. Before testing we need your computer to take a quick test to make sure IT is ready for testing day. Please be sure to do this prior to testing.

Live, In-Person Lessons

We are excited to offer a more blended approach to learning this year. Live in-person lessons will be scheduled monthly. Students are invited to visit our eSchool headquarters, located on the Crews Lake Middle School campus to join in the learning and fun. This will be a drop-off and pick-up event. We do not have the space for learning guides to stay with students this year. Students will be dropped off at 9:30 and picked up at 1:30. Please send your student with a lunch and drink. Lunch will not be provided. Park meet-ups will be scheduled when the weather starts to cool down. Teachers will provide information about those events on their announcement pages in the homeroom course. We are looking forward to seeing our ninjas more often in person this year!
