~ Message from Dr. Sellers ~
Hi Wrangler families!
Thank you to the PTA, the Lang Ranch staff and everyone who joined us for the Lang Ranch Pumpkin parade yesterday. It was such a fun event and great to see all of our Wranglers!!
As many of you have heard we are preparing the school to open for students to come back to on campus learning for the students that are in the Blended cohorts.
- Pending Board Approval TK-2 students in the Blended cohorts will begin on campus instruction on 10/26 and Grades 3-5 on 11/2. Students will remain in cohorts for on campus learning.
- Cohort A Blended students will have school on campus 8:30-11:00 AM.
- Cohort B Blended students will have school on campus 12:30-3:00 PM.
I know there are many questions about what a return to campus looks like. Next week you will get videos and other information regarding Reopening. Students will get information from the teachers on what to expect and help families be prepared. I will be hosting Zooms next week, following Board approval of opening on 10/26, to share important reopening information and also answer questions.
Save the date for the Reopening Webinars on Wednesday, October 21st at 12:30 and 4:30 PM. I will send a separate email with all of the details next week.

Halloween Video Parade!
In lieu of a live Halloween Parade this year, we would like to create a video montage of our students in their Halloween Costumes.
Please submit pictures (no videos) of your Lang Ranch kids in their Halloween costumes to Mr. Lynch at firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for submission is 3:00pm on Friday, October 23rd.
Please take the photo in landscape orientation. If you have more than one Wrangler in your home, you may submit one pic with all of them in it or individual pics of each student.
October is Bullying Prevention Month
Try some of these ideas to help our world be a more welcoming and inclusive place for everyone:
- Hold the door for someone
- Reach out to tell someone they are important to you
- Thank someone for doing something they do for you every day
- learn to say hello in other languages
Together we can create communities that are kinder, more inclusive and accepting for all students. Learn what you can do at https://www.pacer.org/bullying/

“Type to Learn” program, have fun with some coding activities, and some additional instruction on G Suite for Education (Google apps like Docs, Slides, etc.). As always, Mrs. Blietz will work with our teachers to determine the areas of focus for each class/grade.
From the PE Squadron!
Howdy Wranglers! Welcome to Lang Ranch PE 2020. We are reaching out to explain the happenings with PE this year.
First, we are offering EVERY CLASS 2 live 25 minute ZOOM PE’s with a Coach each week. Secondly, we are providing a workout video everyday that the students’ teacher will provide for you to access. The videos are averaging 15 to 20 minutes long.
So, if you take full advantage of our program your student will have a minimum of 120 minutes of PE movement every week!
We need your SUPPORT to get the kids fulfilling their PE potential. Below is the PE ZOOM schedule so you may add it to your calendars.

YEARBOOK IS READY FOR SUBMISSIONS!
As everyone is aware this is a unique year for everyone but we are going to do everything we can to put together an exceptional yearbook for Lang Ranch. This year more than ever we will need everyone's help to make this happen. There will be limited opportunities for the committee to take photos and therefore need all parents to support while we are going through virtual learning. When we are back in school for the blended program we will still need everyone to help out by submitting photos.
Some things to consider as you are taking photos for the yearbook:
~ Must be school related activities
~No individuals including family members in the photo that are not enrolled in Lang Ranch
PHOTOS MUST BE:
~ High resolution originals - many phones have great cameras but please make sure it's the highest resolution possible when taking and submitting
~Faces of the of the students must be visible
~ Labeled with students' names, grade level, date, event title
Please remember to submit any pictures that are taken on school property or focused on a school event at home through one of the following ways:
~ Download the Image Share (Balfour) app on your cell phone and upload photos directly through the app - you will need to register and use the Project number: 112382
~Public Upload link below.
Public Upload: http://sw.balfour.com/tops-services/publicupload/loginForm
School Project Number: 112382
No password needed, but you do need to enter your name and email address.
The link will also work directly from your phone.
5th Grade parents: We will be looking for “Then and Now” pictures. It’s time to dig out those pictures from Kindergarten, 1st grade, or even preschool and recreate them. Find the same group of students, line them up in the same order, and submit both pictures labeled “then and now.”
Any questions, ask JoAnne: firstname.lastname@example.org

Online Tutoring through CVUSD
Last spring CVUSD launched a tutoring/connection program for elementary students. This year, we are expanding the program to include both elementary and middle school students. A number of our high school students have generously offered to volunteer their time to offer free 30-45 minute virtual tutoring and support appointments for our students. Please note that this is for CVUSD students only, and we will be asking families to book no more than two appointments per student, per week.
To schedule an appointment:
1. Go to: https://conejousd.org/CVUSD-Student-Tutors and enter the following username and password:
a. Username: cvusd
b. Password: theconejoway
1. After reviewing the tutor biographies and headshots, click on the “Book Now” button and follow the prompts to select the date and time of your appointment and your CVUSD tutor.
2. A student tutor will reach out to you at the email you provide with a Zoom link for your appointment.
We do ask that an adult is in the room nearby during the tutoring process. We’re so grateful that our high school students are giving so much of their time to give back to the community. We encourage families to take advantage of this special opportunity.
Remote Learning Reminders
1. Have a quiet, designated space to work.
2. Headphones: Headphones are a suggested supply that may help your child stay engaged in their live-virtual or software based instruction. The more background noise that is cancelled, the more focused your child will be.
3. Communicate: If something isn't working, or you are struggling in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher and/or the principal. We are here to help and can offer resources, suggestions, or even make little tweaks to their learning program to meet their needs.
Wrangler Zoom Expectations:
2. Turn off other devices like the TV, cellphones and iPads that you aren't using for the Zoom
3. Wear the proper attire - school appropriate clothes
4. Be prepared - device charged, books and supplies next to you
5. Be on time - join the meeting 5 minutes before it is supposed to start
6. Mute yourself - only unmute if it is your turn to talk
7. Do your best - Focus, listen, think, ask and answer questions in the chat
8. Be respectful - listen to the teacher directions, raise your hand to talk, stay in the meeting until the end
