What is new?

It seems surreal that when we return it will be already 2016. Your Kindergarteners will be halfway done with their first year of school. I can't wait to see how much they will grow in learning as they have already so much. Continue working on sight words at home and read daily. I have sent home their sight words that they still need to work on. If it is highlighted then they have mastered them if they are not for 1st and 2nd qt it will be blank. Remember the more words they know the easier reading will come to them.

Today has been a great day with all the Polar Express activities. We watched the Polar Express, had hot chocolate, made reindeer food, and a reindeer ornament. I gave them their first gift for the holiday- a bell as they gave in the movie. They all "heard" it ring. :)

I just wanted to say I hope you all have a happy holiday and get to spend it with family and friends. I am looking forward to time with my girls the most, as little sister wishes she could come to school with Mommy and big sis. :)

I want to thank you all for the goodies I have received, it has been so thoughtful!

What we learned!

Readers Workshop-We had fun this week acting out our favorite Elephant and Piggie books. We will begin the new year with a new unit on readers make meaning by asking and answering questions.

Writers Workshop-We had our second Author Celebration on our Opinion books yesterday. This book was a little more of a struggle as it was our "first" book we had to write words in. The more we practice it will be easier. Our new unit will be on "How To".

Math Workshop-We have been doing some reviewing and reteaching on certain standards and will continue to do so until winter break. During this time when I am reteaching, your child is doing math stations that are connected to our previous standards.
