Week 20: January 24-28, 2022
A Message from Mrs. Zagala
Thank you for making this (unexpectedly) short week so great! We have seen a decrease in attendance on cold mornings. I realize that with colder weather it can sometimes be harder to make it to school on time. However, learning is still happening each and every day--even when it is cold. I respectfully ask that you do your very best to get your child to school every day. If there is something that we can do to support your child during the winter to help them get to school please reach out to us. If you are concerned that your child might be having some Covid-like symptoms please contact the school nurse right away so that she can discuss options for you and your child. The nurse can be contacted by phone at 210-397-0800 beginning at 7:45 AM.
This month we welcomed our newest staff member to our Allen Family. I would officially like to welcome Ms. Parisher, our new librarian to our school. Ms. Parisher comes to us from Carson Elementary where she served as their art teacher. Welcome to Allen, Ms. Parisher!
This past week we had the opportunity to celebrate our Fairness Pillars of Character. These students were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating the Fairness on a regular basis. In February we will celebrate the Caring Pillar. Congratulations to all of our Pillars of Fairness.
Thank you for all that you do and I am looking forward to another great week of learning!
Eagles Rock!

What to do when your child is sick
If someone in your home has tested positive for Covid-19, or if your child has been exposed to Covid-19 please keep your child home and contact the school nurse for further guidance.
We thank you for your support in these matters and for your patience as our school nurses are working hard to keep all of our students healthy and helping them to return to school as quickly as possible.
Early Release Day
Temporary Mask Mandate in Effect 1.21.22
Effective Friday, January 21, 2022, NISD has issued a temporary Mask Mandate for all staff, students, and visitors on campus.
This temporary Mask Mandate has been enacted due to a surge in COVID metrics. This mandate is not expected to last as long as the last mandate and will be monitored week to week by the district. Once the metrics improves and the surge subsides, the district will lift the mandate.
We appreciate your help and cooperation by reminding your child to wear their mask properly each day.
Kindergarten Round Up 1.28.22
*To register your child for Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year, your child must turn 5 years old on OR before September 1, 2022.
*Students that are currently enrolled in PreK at Allen Elementary do not need to attend Kindergarten Round Up as they are already in our system and will receive registration information later in the Spring.
