We are going talk about winter. All the changes in this season, migration, hibernation and the clothes we wear. Reading Aloud of: Qué vemos en el invierno/What we see in the Winter.
Religion: This week the children will learn that we prepare for Jesus’ birthday by being kind and loving. We continue to talk about the second week of Advent, and the story of St. Nicholas. The children got some treats in their shoe to celebrate the life of St. Nicholas who would deliver bags of gold to poor families. In European culture, children put out their shoes and they receive treats from St. Nick.
Estrellita: This week we completed our letter units on letter sounds Oo an Aa. We reviewed vocabulary and worked on writing the letter Aa.

Sra. Tajito, a former parent, made each child their very own stocking. She glued their picture on the front. We the teachers are filling their stockings with goodies that each of us have gotten for them. We will pass them out on the 18th. We have 3 children that are leaving early for Christmas vacation. They will get theirs before their last day.
Mrs. Tajito is also providing us with a visit from “Santa Claus” this Friday, so don’t miss school!!!!
On the 18th, we will celebrate “Las Posadas” which is a Catholic Spanish Tradition where we act out the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem for Jesus’ birth. There are songs and prayers and a piñata party with food that we are asking parents to provide. Pre-K 3, Pre-K4, Kinder, 1st and 2nd grades will be bringing a lunch dish to share with all the grades for their Christmas piñata party. Please consider helping us out with a favorite Christmas dish. We will not have a class party because of this celebration.
Remember that it is a full-day and extended care will be provided.
Sincerely,
Sra. Raquel L., Sra. Farías and Sra. Laura P.
