College and Career Fair
Empowering and preparing students for life after high school is important, and this happened at last week's College and Career Fair.
All of the district's juniors and seniors, as well as 200 students from six nearby districts, had the opportunity to talk to approximately 70 colleges, businesses, union representatives, technical schools, and military representatives during this annual event.
Thanks to Leslie Largent, Career Services Coordinator at Clinton Technical School, for her work in arranging such a successful event.
First Graders Learn About Communities
First grade students in Mrs. Powell and Ms. Raymond's classes have been exploring community helpers and the importance of communities.
Students were able to explore different community roles and occupations and share what types of jobs they would like to have one day. Students also studied and learned about urban, suburban and rural communities and compared and contrasted each type.
After learning about communities, students visited the school's Makerspace classroom to create and build their own 3-D communities.
Food For America
On Friday, October 18th, Clinton High School FFA students provided a great opportunity for area 3rd graders.
In their "Food for America" program, FFA students taught elementary students that their food doesn't just come from the grocery store shelf. Third graders learned about the importance of the agriculture industry and how all of us depend on farmers.
There were many hands-on activities led by FFA students and many students even brought their own livestock to share with the 3rd graders.

GET TO KNOW....RIKKI MESH
Rikki Mesh, special education teacher at CIS, is a "hometown girl". Rikki grew up in Clinton and graduated from CHS in 2008.
This is Rikki's 5th year of teaching in the district, where she is also the CHS Crimson Girls Dance Team coach. Prior to "coming home" to teach, Rikki taught in the Centralia and Warsaw School Districts.
Rikki met her husband, Frank (who teaches Computer Information Systems at Clinton Technical School), when they both attended CHS, but they didn't reconnect until Rikki joined the district in 2015. Rikki and Frank were married in 2017, and on August 28, 2019 they welcomed their little boy Luca to their family. Rikki and Frank also have two cats, Louie and Penelope, that help complete their family. Rikki also has a twin brother, but they look nothing alike.....Rikki is 5' 1" and he's 6' 3"!
In her spare time, Rikki enjoys coaching dance, reading, dancing and traveling. Rikki and Frank plan to visit every state. So far they have both traveled to three different states, and their favorite place has been Jekyll Island, GA.
"I love working for the CSD because I am back in my hometown, and I love the building I work in. My co-workers are amazing, and more like a family. I also feel like I get to make a positive difference, and give back to the wonderful community I grew up in."
