Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 8 | 7 SEPTEMBER 2022
Throughout this term, the Year 6 students have been taking part in physical education sessions run by Mim Strom and Aine Tigh from the Fremantle Dockers’ AFLW team. These sessions, organised by Mrs Johnson, saw the kids cover everything from hand passes to kicking and served as a wonderful introduction to the game for those students who had never taken part. The highlight of the sessions took the form of a game on the final day of the programme, umpired by Mim and Aine, in which all students got stuck into consolidating the parts of the game they had practised in the weeks prior. It was one of those ‘reality exceeding expectations’ experiences for the kids, and a fantastic time was had by all involved.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
P&F Father's Day
I would like to extend a very big thank you to our hardworking P&F for the amazing Father’s Day stall they ran at school last week. The quality of products on sale set an enormously high standard. Many were handmade by members of the P&F and we can’t thank these ladies enough for their passion and dedication to our school community. A big thank you also to those on the P&F who gave up their time to run the stall. Without the help of these selfless individuals who are prepared to give of their own time, we would not be able to run these types of events.
Year 5 Camp
This week our Year 5 students go on camp. Thank you to our dedicated staff who are prepared to work after hours to ensure that our children have this exciting opportunity to participate in. Many social skills and individual gifts and strengths are nurtured and developed in children during these types of extra-curricular excursions, as we strive for our moral purpose of nurturing the whole child to achieve their unique potential.
Land Development
You will have noticed if you collect your child from the back of the school, how well our new land development is progressing. Mr McPhail and Mr Zoontjies are to be acknowledged for their hard work on this project. We are incredibly fortunate to have Mr McPhail who is highly skilled and experienced in managing this type of work, lead this development project for our community.
Final Note...
Last week I interviewed a sibling for Kindy 2023. The parents spoke to me of their appreciation for how our teachers have nurtured their older daughter over the years. They said they have not only seen her flourish academically but importantly they have also noticed how her confidence has grown. They attributed this to the amazing teachers she has had over her time at our school. I would like to acknowledge the input that every single staff member contributes to the growth and development of all our students. Every day, our staff share their God given gifts and talents with our students, helping them to grow and develop into well rounded human beings.
God bless you all.
