Crestview Title I Newsletter
May/June 2019
What are we learning??
K-reading: We continue to read each day! We have been working on patterns in words, learning our star words, working on our reading strategies, writing sentences and focusing on the letters and sounds we don't know yet! Please make sure book bags are returned for the end of the year!!
K-Math: We are working on one more and one less to 21. We start with a number and decide if we add one more or take one away, what is my new number. We have also been working on changing a number (If I have 10 bears and I want to change my pile to 12, what do I need to do? What if I have 10 bears and I want to change my pile to 6?)
1st-reading: We are reading books, discussing the books, working on sight words, and writing! Please make sure book bags are returned for the end of the year!
1st -math: We are working on combinations of numbers and fact families including more/less, making 5 and making 10.
2nd-reading: We have been reading some great nonfiction lately and having some great discussions and watching short videos to make connections about our topics. We have been writing about our reading and talking about what we have been learning!
2nd-math: We have been working on addition and subtraction strategies with our doubles, doubles +1, and doubles +2.
Title I Services will end May 24th!

Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Challenge
It's a free (and fun!) reading program that helps kids avoid the summer slide — the learning loss that can occur over summer break — by reading for enjoyment. Starting May 6, 2019, your kids can enter their reading minutes throughout the 18 weeks of summer to unlock exclusive digital rewards and help donate books to kids in need across the country. The minutes you spend reading out loud to them counts, too! Along the way, you and your kids will discover some pretty incredible age-appropriate reads from the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge book lists.

Title I Parent Surveys!
Each year we distribute a parent survey to get your input and feedback on the services offered to our Title I students. I wanted to personally reach out and encourage you to take a moment to complete the survey and return it with your child to school. We use these surveys to evaluate Title I so we can provide a program that is beneficial to our qualifying students.
