Motivating Others
This year our 8th Grade Peer Leaders created a Chain of Success with link messages. They encouraged 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to write positive motivating messages to create the chain, during 2 days of lunch waves. Currently the 627 link chain is in a show case in our front hallway, waiting to be hung up in the school lobby.
Teaching Developmental Guidance
8th Grade Peer Leaders teaching the "Becoming an Organized Student" lesson to all 6th grade students. 8 peer leaders were trained by Mrs. Jacques and Mrs. Severino to teach the workshop. After two sessions of training, and work during their own time, our peer leaders were ready to lead our 6th graders on a path to organization and good study skills.
Q & A
All Peer Leaders, grades 7 and 8, run a question and answer session during Step Up, for incoming 6th grade students, after they attend presentations by PACK members and tours. Peer leaders do this again during our annual Summer Orientation where, historically, 80- 90% of incoming 6th grade students attend. They are an integral part in preparing the 5th grade students for 6th grade!

What is coming up next?
Mrs. Jacques and Mrs. Severino will be recruiting new leaders from the 7th grade during the month of December. We have a great list of possible candidates provided to us, from 6th grade teachers last year. If you are a 7th grade teacher and would like to give us your recommendation, please do so before December 7th. Once we have our committed 7th grade students, the 8th grade Peer Leaders will start training them in early January. All 8th grade Peer Leader slots taken, in general, we only ever need to recruit from 7th grade as most of our Peer Leaders continue on in 8th grade.
