Woodfield's Parent Newsletter
December 2018 - Woodfield Elementary
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
It is hard to believe that December is here! We have much to look forward to this month with our Winter Concert December 11th, various winter field trips, and our spirit week (more information coming) before Winter Break. If you feel you need to meet with your child's teacher please feel free to contact their teacher and set that up. This is an important time for parents and teachers to share information so that we are able to meet the needs of all students. Thank you for making the effort and taking the time to come in and meet.
As we prepare for the cold weather, please review with your child your family plan of what to do if school gets called off. This site, along with the radio and television stations, will post closings as they are reported. The district is also will send a notification that will contact your phone(s) directly. The numbers that were provided under the Skylert tab in family access have been programmed in to this system and you will receive a call to that number when school is canceled. It is essential that we have your correct and current phone number.
Please reference local news stations/websites/apps to check if school has been canceled due inclement weather. If school has been canceled our offices will not be staffed and these resources have the best information.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call me.

Elementary School Social Worker
Parents and Guardians of Woodfield School, Buenos Dias! My name is Kim Rivera-Kloeppel; students refer to me as Mrs. Kloeppel. I serve as the School Social Worker for Woodfield, Trailside and Evergreen Elementary Schools. I have worked in the district for 22 years. This year I am at Woodfield School on Mondays and Wednesdays.
I would love to assist you or your child as follow: As a school social worker, my role is to assist in facilitating increased communication between home, school and at times community agencies in order to better understand and educate your child. I can provide supportive community resources for families and help families to remove any barriers when working to coordinate with agencies. (Some of these services could include counseling, financial services, medical, life skills, etc.) I also provide assessment, crisis intervention and work with students individually or in groups with anger management, stress, and anxiety to name a few.
As I think about the Holiday Season, I realize it is often a time of great joy for many but also a financial burden for others. If you or your family is in need for the holidays, Love Inc. in Burlington has a program called Adopt a Family for Christmas. You can call 262-763-6226 to see if you qualify or call if you’d like to sponsor an anonymous family. Love Inc. also has coats, hats, snowsuits, mittens and school supplies for families in need.
Please feel welcome to call, text or email me if I can be of any assistance to your family! My contact information is 262-514-8200 ext. 6500, 262-210-8591 (work cell) or kloeppel@waterford.k12.wi.us

Drop Off & Pick-Up
Pick-up/Drop-off Procedure – At Woodfield Elementary School, we place a great deal of emphasis on student safety. If your child is driven to and from school, please make sure to drop him/her off on the school side of the driveway. All too often, parents “double park” and students are dropped off or picked up from the outside lane of traffic and they need to cross between many cars. This is not a safe practice and it sets a bad example for our students. Also, if you park in the lot, please escort your children to and from the car. Staff members will not allow children to walk to and from cars in the lot without adult supervision. If you need to leave your vehicle to come into school for any reason, please park in one of the marked spaces in the lot and not in the driveway. Driveway parking is only for immediate drop-offs or pick-ups. Parents are also reminded that cars are not permitted to drive around the back of the building.
Please Remember These Drop-Off and Pick-Up Rules:
- Children must enter and exit vehicles on the passenger side of the vehicle only (keeping them safely out of the lane of moving traffic).
- Cars may pull up only to the curb and may not “double park” in order to pick up a child for any reason. Children may not walk between parked cars in order to board their parent’s “double parked” vehicle for any reason.
- Drivers should not leave their vehicle and must remain seated in the driver’s seat in order to pull ahead when necessary (except to help a small child get into the car).
- Cars must pull ahead to fill in the gaps that occur when a vehicle exits.
- The curb is not a parking area and cars that are left parked there create a backup for everyone.
- Parents parking in the parking lot for pickup are required to walk up the sidewalk to escort their child back to the car.
- Cars should not block the road where busses need to exit.
- No vehicles are allowed to drive behind the school between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM as these are the main times children are arriving to and leaving school.
