Centennial's "Newsday Tuesday"!
Centennial Elementary Families' Weekly Newsletter 8/16/22
A Note from the Principal
Mrs. Kerner, our Centennial Staff, and I so enjoyed getting to meet so many of you at "Meet the Teacher" and look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child(ren) at Centennial! We are off to a great start and it's hard to believe that we're already in the second week of school!
To help make you aware of all of the wonderful things happening at Centennial, I will be sending home a Principal's Newsletter electronically (called "Newsday Tuesday!") each week; the newsletter will include any important updates about school happenings as well as exciting information from our administrative team and PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization; of which we invite each of you to become an active part)! In addition, you'll continue to receive updates from your child's teacher in his / her Thursday folder and weekly grade-level newsletter!
For those of you who are long-time members of the Centennial family, and to those who are new to this amazing school, I assure you that we will continue to maintain high expectations and high support for all of our children as we guide and grow them (both academically and socially) to ever new levels of excellence. As a matter of fact, our campus theme is "Mission Possible" this year to increase our focus on our mission of "Advancing Excellence!"
Finally, dear families, we know that student safety and health are our first priority.
In regards to school safety, Edmond Public Schools has worked, and is working, with our Edmond PD to revise and implement safety practices to keep all students safe. I'll have more detailed information to share with you on our upcoming "Back to School Nights" on August 23/25.
In regards to COVID, EPS has eased safety protocols, detailed on the EPS Covid-19 Information Page, linked here.
If you have any further questions about student protocols, the EPS Elementary Student Handbook is a valuable resource to review (there are some parts you may wish to share with your student).
Thank you for all that you do, and please let us know if we may help you with strategies to support your child!
We are thankful to be part of your child's wonderful journey of learning!
With kind regards,
Ellie Webb, Principal
In Case of Absence
Families, did you know that there is a prove and positive correlation between good school attendance and student learning?
Did you also know that you may call 405-726-4699 any time to leave a message regarding your student's need to be absent or tardy?
We encourage this so the phone lines aren’t tied up in the morning during AM drop off. If a family accidentally forgets to call on when a student is absent, an automated call goes out at 10:30 to families who have not yet reported their child is absent as a reminder. Thank you!
