A Message from the Director
Greetings Team-
I am always so excited to learn new content, extend my knowledge of a particular content area, and make new connections to things. Today, I had an opportunity to attend sessions at leadership academy that caused for me to think about situations differently; and I was left with two really deep thoughts to ponder. The first was, "Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." The second was, "Is it good for the children?" These two thoughts, though seemingly opposite, actually go hand in hand, in my opinion. If you are willing to fail forward to learn without losing motivation, so that students are more successful, then, you have chosen your life's work. It isn't easy to fail with acceptance of failure; but in failure lies great opportunity to learn and grow. #FailingForwardtoLearn
The work that we do everyday is difficult, and won't become any easier as the years, months, and days pass; so do yourself a favor and ask yourself- Am I willing to sacrifice a little bit for my scholars to be successful? I need you to.
I desire to be in the top 5 on CA #3 and I believe if we collectively work together, and work as hard as we can, we will see that success! After all, we have had our share of failures and have learned a TON from them. Let's RISE UP like a PHOENIX and show the world what UHPMS is made of.
COMPETENCE + HEARTWORK = SUCCESS
The Dream Team Will Fight!
Sincerely,
Director Parks

During the month of February, 6th grade scholars will receive guidance lessons on positive self-image. In addition, all grade levels will receive guidance lessons on substance abuse. Scholars will engage in conversations on the importance of self-confidence and learn about harmful substances.
Aim for Success
Shout out to the 8th grade team for assisting me with passing out the opt out forms!
Please note Aim for Success programing is scheduled for Friday, February 8th from 8:30am-10:00am. Scholars will be dismissed during advisory and will need to arrive to their designated areas on time. Female scholars will be in the Secondary Café and male scholars will be in the Primary Café. Scholars who opted out of the presentation will sit in an empty classroom. For each presentation, I will follow up with the male and female staff members to observe the gender specific presentation. Once the presentation is complete, scholars will report to their ELT class. COLLABORATION DAY MARCH 8TH
Employees with children at Uplift! Are you interested in an Uplift-provided childcare option, during our next Collaboration Day on March 8? We piloted this at the January Collaboration Day, but participation was lower than expected. Our notice went out late and staff had already made other arrangements or didn’t know about the January 7 child care option until it was too late to register, but the scholars who attended had a great time! We’re hoping to recreate this opportunity for March 8, but we’ll first have to determine if there’s enough interest to proceed. Please complete the following Interest Survey by January 31 so we can gauge interest. Childcare details are as follows: · Who can attend: This program will be open to Uplift scholars whose parents/guardians are Uplift employees. · Location: The child care camp will be hosted at an Uplift campus. The location(s) will be determined based on the results of the interest survey. · Cost: $15/scholar ($10 for every additional scholar enrolled). Lunch and snacks included! If you have any questions, please email Tamara Franco at tfranco@uplifteducation.org
DATA DASHBOARD
A brand-new network assessment dashboard is now available. This dashboard will refresh throughout the year to include data from our two network assessments (TWA and CA).
