definition- a metaphor is where to things are compares without like or as.


example- he was a walking calculator.

alliteration

definition- a bit of text that starts with the same letter.


example- voracious volcanoes vibrated the valley very violently.

Onomatopoeia

definition - the formation of a word, as cuckoo, meow, honk, or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent.


example- a bomb makes a boom sound.

hyperbole

definition- obvious and intentional exaggeration


example- I am so hungry I can eat a house

personificathion

definition- the attribution of human nature or character to animals, inanimate objects, or abstract notions, especially as a rhetorical figure.


example- when the boy tried to eat the pizza

the pizza took a slice and slapped it on its face.
