Weddington Middle School Newsletter
November 22, 2019
Notes from the Principal
Dear Parents,
We belong! Those shirts made their first appearance on campus today, and it’s neat to see our students out of uniform spreading a unifying message! Many students also donned jeans to celebrate their toy contributions during our Beta Club Toy Drive. As we approach this season of thanks, we are grateful to serve these students and this community. From our PTSO and the pies we can almost smell and our ABC and the extensive projects they have planned to support our students, we are in a blessed place! Join our WMS Chorus tonight at Town Hall as they sing to accompany the annual Weddington Tree Lighting at 7:15pm. From all of us at Weddington Middle School, Happy Thanksgiving! School closes at 5pm Tuesday and will reopen at 8am Monday, December 2.
Notice to PM Car Riders on the WES/Elementary side: we are working to maximize the efficiency of our traffic pattern there, but the middle school side is our official dismissal site. We have a traffic director available each afternoon on Deal Road, and that allows a more controlled approach as vehicles access our campus off the public road. We do NOT have a traffic director on Twelve Mile Creek Road. If you use that entry and observe a back-up/congestion on that road, we recommend you use our middle school entrance just off Deal Road.
Happy Friday Weddington, and enjoy your weekend!

Absence/Early Dismissal
Parents, if your child will be leaving school early, please send a note to the homeroom teacher with the dismissal time. Students who leave before or arrive after 12:15 pm will be marked absent for the day. There are no dismissals allowed after 3:30 pm. If you send a note for your student to be in the office at 3:30 pm and you arrive after the 3:30 pm deadline, if your student is not in the office waiting for you the office staff will not call your student out of class. Also, all early dismissal and late arrivals from medical appointments must have a note from the doctor in order to be excused.
When students are absent it is not necessary to call the school. Be sure to send a note to the homeroom teacher stating why the student was not in school. UCPS will notify you through Connect-Ed if your student was
absent.
