What a Year!
We became the first school in OUSD to move off campus for construction. From our almost 100 year old school to our temporary home in North Oakland, we pulled together with grace and humor and in spite of various threats and obstacles, we kept our community intact and we are stronger for it.
In addition to all the changes that this experience brought, we actualized new forms of leadership for our students through Junior Coaches, Student Council, Sports Clinic Leaders, Bus and On Campus Safety Patrol, monthly buddy meetings and more. We have had one of our strongest fifth grade classes and I attribute this in part to the many forms of leadership they were offered and took on.
This was the year that our PD became entirely lead by teachers for teachers and our instruction became better and stronger. We embraced and grappled with our "RJ-ness" on a deeper level. We had fun and we learned a lot and we tried new things.
It was a great year and I'm in debt to every staff member for their hard work, their time, and their thoughtfulness as we work together to make Glenview a place for students to grow and learn!
I hope everyone has an amazing summer with relaxation, travel, friends, family, and rest.

MINDS (ACADEMICS & INSTRUCTION)
Check out Mr. Litt's Class Magazine...
In circle time, through long and interesting discussions, our class talked about the phenomena of Interview magazine. It's printed on news print paper, it's not all that flashy but it is hugely popular. Why? Because it's about people, specifically, people talking to other people about themselves. This is interesting to so many.
The class got inspired to try it themselves. So long story short, we decided our culminating writing assignment around our social issues novel unit would be interviews. Here is our publication we now share.

GUIDED READING LIBRARY books Due back to book room by 6/2
Please make sure and turn in to the book room any Guided Reading Library materials that you may have borrowed this year by 6/2. Ms. Yve and her intervention team will be inventorying the Guided Reading materials at the end of the school year; they will also tidy up the library and let me know of any missing books so that I can forward that information to you. Please look through your classroom library to see if you have any GR books mixed in with your own.
