Liberty Park Elementary School Newsletter
Week of October 26th
Dear Liberty Park Families,
The 2nd quarter is off to a great start! The first week back from Fall Break was busy as we welcomed back our students, welcomed new students to the building, and got back into our routines, expectations, and procedures.
Parent/Teacher Conferences were held this past Thursday, and the turnout was amazing!! I want to extend a big thank you to all of our parents and caregivers for connecting with teachers by participating in these important conferences. These meetings are so very important and help to strengthen the relationships between teachers, students, and families! Our teachers appreciated having time with you to discuss student successes, needs, and much more! Please do not hesitate to reach out to school staff at any time if you have questions or needs! We are here for you and want to continue to keep connections between home and school open! Thank you, again, for your time and participation!!
On Tuesday, November 3rd, Warren Township will have a planned eLearning Day for our students across the district. On this day, your student will complete teacher-designed extended learning activities at home. All K-4 in-person students will be bringing home a breakfast and lunch meal on Monday, Nov. 2. Fully VIRTUAL students will have their AM and PM meal distribution at Moorhead Community Resource Center available to them as scheduled. Internet hotspots are available for 3rd and 4th-grade families who will need support ensuring their students can log in to their student’s CANVAS. If you would like to check out a hotspot, please give us a call by Oct. 30. Additional information in letter below.
Finally as we enter cold and flu season, it is so very important to continue to work with your children on health and safety at school. All students are required to wear face masks during the school day (except when actively eating lunch). We appreciate your efforts to help students understand the importance of this for their safety and the safety of others! Thank you for your support with these important protocols and procedures!
As always, I thank you for your continued support of Liberty Park Elementary! Take care, be safe, and have a great weekend!
Your Principal,
Jason Brooks
Warren Township's planned eLearning Day - NOVEMBER 3rd
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
On Tuesday, November 3rd, Warren Township will have a planned eLearning Day for our students across the district. On this day, your student will complete extended learning activities at home, designed by their teachers.
What is eLearning? How does it differ from Virtual Learning?
eLearning is defined as extended learning activities. Extended learning refers to activities that continue the instruction happening in the classroom; it is not the introduction of new concepts. This work is provided by teachers and it is aligned with district curriculum maps. eLearning differs from Virtual Learning in that students will not participate in direct instruction or small group instruction on Zoom and/or CANVAS on this day.
In preparation for this eLearning Day, I wanted to share information with families in advance. Depending on your grade level and learning model, there is unique information to be aware of for Tuesday, November 3rd.
If your student is:
IN-PERSON Kindergarten through 2nd grade, your student will receive work from their teachers on Friday, October 30th for the November 3rd eLearning Day. Students will bring activities home two school days prior to the eLearning Day. If your student is absent, parents/ caregivers on days materials are passed out, you may collect materials from the home school office on November 3rd.
IN-PERSON 3rd through 4th grade, your student will bring home their school issued iPads on November 2nd and log into Canvas on November 3rd to receive work from their teachers. Students will carry their fully charged school issued iPad home in their backpacks, no chargers will be provided. Work will be uploaded to Canvas by 8:00 AM the day of eLearning. *If you require internet access support, please contact the school office. **Canvas information for Warren Parents/Caregivers can be found here for first time users.
VIRTUAL Kindergarten through 12th grade, your student will receive work from their teachers on Canvas.
Activities assigned on Tuesday, November 3rd, will be due by Tuesday, November 10th. Submission of work will be used to verify your student’s attendance as PRESENT for November 3rd.
If your student needs support from their teacher on their assignments on this day, eLearning support hours will be available from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. An email will be sent from your classroom teacher to parents sharing their phone number, email and other methods of communication available on November 3rd during eLearning support hours. *If your 3rd-4th grader should need technical assistance, Moorhead Community Resource Center will be open from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM to support your device needs. The technology help desk is located on the north side of the building, door 11, near the playground.
eLearning Days may be used in the event of school closures due to inclement weather. This planned day allows us to ensure that we are employing practices that support the continuation of our students’ learning while providing support.
Liberty Park Elementary looks forward to supporting our families with our first eLearning Day of the 2020-2021 school year. Please reach out with any questions.

Virtual Families: Attendance for Virtual Students - Attendance App
K-4
All virtual students are now required to log-in to Canvas to validate their attendance every day of school. This includes direct instruction days, application days, and academic enrichment days. Please help your student log-in and submit their attendance each day.
1. Open the app called “V attendance” on your student’s iPad. It is black with a gold check mark.
2. Click the red button that says “Log into Google” to sign into the student’s google account. This is the same email and password that students use to log into Clever. Not sure about what this login information is? Email me!
3. You should now be logged into Canvas. Click on the box that says “Period 1”. It is outlined in yellow.
4. It will come up with a question about whether or not your student is attending that day. Click yes.
5. Click submit. You did it!
You may also continue to login through the Canvas app if it has been working for you. Please reach out with any questions! Thanks!
Picture Day for Virtual Students
In early November, virtual students will be given the opportunity to have their picture taken. The virtual support team is working on what this will look like for families. In order to plan effectively, we would like to gauge families with this survey:
Q2 to Q3 & Q4 Virtual Transition
It's never too early to prepare! We are setting the following transition windows for In-Person to Virtual and Virtual to In-Person for next semester. This will be the LAST transition for the school year. K-8 students will need to make a commitment for the rest of the school year during their window (no transition from Q3 to Q4).
High School - October 23 - November 8
K - 8 - November 13 - November 24
Virtual Families: Having Technology Issues?
Beginning Monday, October 26th the Moorhead technology help desk will move to door 11 at the rear of the building located near the playground. Please drive through the gate on the west side of the building and, after parking, enter door 11 for assistance. The Technology team will keep the same hours for the help desk: Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 11am to 1pm.
If you are having tech issues, please contact the help desk:
School Dismissal Manager
LP uses School Dismissal Manager to report student absences and set up end of day transportation routines for students. You should have received an email last week with your personalized login information. Please remember to set your students dismissal option in the School Dismissal Manager via the smartphone app or website. If you need any assistance logging in or using the system please contact our front office staff.

Parent VUE Portal
Synergy has a ParentVUE portal that parents can use to monitor students grades, attendance and discipline. Parents can view their students "Warren Password" on the ParentVUE Student Info tab. Parents can click on Student Info and then scroll to the bottom of the page. They will see their students' passwords right below the bus information.
COVID Screening and Quarantine Information:
MSD Warren's S.A.F.E Reopening Plan provides a comprehensive framework within which students and staff can be safe. Our staff will continue to emphasize social distancing, hand washing/sanitizing, and face coverings with students. Parents are reminded that students exhibiting symptoms should be kept at home, and that the school response to positive cases will be consistent with Warren's Plan. Please don't hesitate to reach out to teachers, counselor, administrators with questions or concerns - We are in this together!
Thank you for taking time each morning to screen your child before coming to school each day. Please continue to do so. Below are symptoms impacting consideration for exclusion from school:
Students and employees should be excluded from school if they test positive for COVID-19 or exhibit two or more of the symptoms of COVID-19 that are not otherwise explained based on ISDH / MCPHD guidance. If in doubt, please don't hesitate to call school at 317-532-1850 for some guidance. We appreciate your support in doing this important screening step each day before sending students to school.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
