Transition to Single-Grade Classrooms (Gr TK-6)
After considerable input and discussion, GLC has made the decision to transition from our multi-age classroom approach to single-grade classrooms beginning with the new school year.
While there were many aspects of the multi-age classroom approach that we enjoyed, by separating students into grade-level cohorts, the school aims to optimize instruction and curriculum delivery, allowing teachers to focus on targeted instruction and personalized learning. This change is expected to facilitate a more structured academic environment and enable educators to address individual student progress more effectively.
We recognize that half of our students and families had expected to return to their current teacher. Please know that many will be able to continue with their teacher and that we are carefully setting up our new classroom assignments so all students are set up to succeed. As usual, letters with class assignments will be mailed to homes in late July.
While the transition may require some adjustments, we remain committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational community that nurtures the growth and success of all its students. Thank you!
NOTE: Our middle school will continue to have some multi-grade classes.

The Importance of Summer Reading
Tips for Summer Learning
- Investigate your public library's summer reading program - See the section below on activities for all ages at the Visalia branch of the Tulare County Library.
- Listen up! - Check out audiobooks on your phone from VUSD's Sora app. These are great for playing when in the car, on a road trip, or just waiting in line.
- Write it down - Encourage your child to keep a journal this summer. Pick up a new notebook, colorful pens, and some stickers at your local dollar store to make it fun!
