Dates for your Calendar:
December 8th at 6:30p.m. will be our next PTA meeting to kick off our Read-a-Thon! We will review Read-a-thon expectations briefly. We will then be inviting all RHS feeder schools into a discussion related to equity. Here is some further information and the link to join regarding the next meeting:
What: The Hanawalt Elementary School PTA is sponsoring a virtual series on equity within the DMPS District. We’re inviting all Roosevelt High School feeder schools to join! The first session will feature Peter LeBlanc, from the DMPS Office of Talent Support. Mr. LeBlanc will review the results of DMPS’ Anti-Racist Townhalls and what actions the district plans to take next due to the results of the meetings. Q&A will follow.
Peter LeBlanc’s bio:
Peter began his teaching career as a 4th grade Math and Science teacher in Houston, Texas. After 6 years of teaching, he was an Interventionist and After-School program director for a year before becoming an Assistant Principal at two different schools.
He began his career in DMPS in 2011 when he was named principal of King Elementary. Peter spent 5 years as principal of King before being named principal of Goodrell Middle School in 2016. He was principal of Goodrell for the past 4 years and is now a principal on special assignment in the Office of Talent Support.

With the PTA executive committee nearing the end of their term, we are looking for several people to 'learn the ropes' and be ready to lead next year. Without leadership, the PTA can only operate at a limited capacity.
