Happy Final Friday of the Year, Kipling Families,

First of all, thank you so much for all of your patience, support, and flexibility during dismissal today. We really appreciated all the teamwork and communication today to ensure all students were dismissed safely.

The end of the year is rapidly approaching. There is excitement and anticipation all throughout our school. Our fifth graders are visiting Shepard and enjoying all of their end of the year activities. All of our students are eager for a summer break filled with downtime, camps, trips, sports, and more time spent with family and friends.

I want to encourage all of you and your children to make the most of it! Find something over the summer that will engage their curiosity and get them excited. But also give them down time. I strongly believe in the value of "PDF" (Play time, Down time, Family Time). Give them time to be creative, reflective, and quiet in the moment. Not everyone will attend camps or go on vacations and that is okay. There are so many activities and events in our community and through the library and park district in which our students can participate. Get them out of the house and outside to explore as much as possible.

Provide them some time with you where you can all be in the moment and be present. Our time with them at this age goes too quickly. My Lorenzo is going into 4th grade and my Angelo is leaving his elementary school and heading to our Junior High for 7th grade…and I have no idea how this is possible.

Another school year has come and is almost gone. Thank you for sharing your children with us, partnering with our school and teachers, and making learning an essential part of your child’s life. Thank you for welcoming me into this amazing community and making me feel right at home. I am truly happy, proud, and honored to be the Principal of Kipling. I tell everyone who will listen that DPS109 and Kipling in particular are exactly the right place to be raising your children and sending them to school. I am so grateful to be here.

Enjoy the last few days of the year and I wish you and your families all the happiness and relaxation this summer can provide!

Respectfully,

Mr. Matthew O. Lombardo, NBCT

District 109 Communication

ICYMI: A One-Question Survey On How DPS 109 Is Doing

As part of our mission & vision process, the Deerfield Public Schools District 109 administration established several key performance indicators for the district, which are updated and reviewed at various points throughout the year. One of the newest KPI's, which is being measured for the first time here, is a Net Promoter Score. Simply put, we want to know how satisfied you are with your overall experience with our school district.

Here is a Google Form that will ask you "How likely are you to recommend Deerfield Public Schools District 109 to a friend or colleague?" on a scale of 1 "Very Unlikely" to 10 "Very Likely"

Please rate the district accordingly. There is also an optional space provided where we encourage you to leave feedback about your score so that we can learn and grow from what you share. Your response is anonymous.

Deerfield Park District and Community News

Registration through the Deerfield Park District is open for returning families and will open up next week for new families in the district. For more information on Before and After School Club and registration information, contact Kathleen Muellner: kathleen@deerfieldparks.org or 847-572-2623. Click here for their brochure. Again, this program is NOT run by DPS 109 and all questions should be directed at the park district.
